Modern quite stylish rooms..comfortable bed and harbour views from my room.

However service, particularly from front desk staff, was non existent. their attitude was surly and everything was too much trouble. i wont go into the litany of problems, including incorrect billing. my first email of complaint went unanswered for over two weeks. I sent a follow up email and did get a response from the Asst General Manager who adjusted my account in compensation for my poor experiences. However, it shouldnt have happened in the first place and then it shouldnt have taken two emails to get any type of response

Breakfast was ok, nothing and special and they still play the old game of charging you more if you request a cappucino instead of a regular coffee. its a less than average cappucino so dont bother.

Room service meals were quite nice. '

Would i stay there again? Definitely not - for $5 more i could have stayed at the Langham and wished I had!

I stayed five nights at the Rydges for business/pleasure. The hotel has just been remodeled and it shows. Everything is new and feels modern. Great location -- a block from the Star City complex (where the hotel prices are very high).

The hotel had lots of workspace for business with great lighting. Be aware that internet charges can run upwards of $30 (US)/day, which seems standard in NZ. Room was well-lit and had lots of windows -- even in rooms without nice views.

When I checked in, there were options to upgrade rooms for $20, which recommend taking if on a pleasure/romantic trip.

I was very impressed with the hotel -- great value, good front desk service, and nice, clean facilities all made a good impression.

My family and I recently stayed here for 3 nights over the Easter break and we really had a nice experience with the Rydges. We stayed in deluxe rooms and I have no complaints about them. They were very clean and the beds were very comfortable. The Rydges has recently been refurbished and I think this makes a big difference to your stay. There wasn't any musty hotel smell that you find in older hotels. The check in staff were very professional and friendly. We enjoyed the breakfast buffet. I think it may be a good idea if the staff seat the guests, rather than telling people to sit anywhere. We were a group of six and we had to wait for a table to be set up because all of the tables were taken and in some cases a table that is normally meant for 4 people, was being occupied by 2. I would still come back to the Rydges, Auckland.

We stayed at the Rydges for just two nights and it served its purpose. It was well located for the harbour area with its shops and restaurants and we could see the Sky Tower from our bedroom window and watched many people leaping from the top! Our room was comfortable and well appointed and the staff helpful and friendly. The choice at breakfast was extensive but the hot food was not the best. We wouldn't rule out staying there again though.
