As other reviewers noted, all the hotels at Uluru are operated by one company, Voyages. The lack of competition really impacts service and cleanliness, especially at this lower-end property. It felt more like I was checking into a hostel or dorm than an expensive "hotel".
This resort isn't built with any real attention to its surroundings. There is one "lookout" - which was roped off and closed - that had a minimal view of the rock, despite the fact that it's only a few miles away. Our room had a view of a dirt hill.
The "kitchen" was very minimal - a stove top, minimal pots/pans/plates, etc. We were able to cook, but I was disappointed . The store on-site is expensive, but also lacked smaller sizes of spices, etc. Many of the shelves were bare.
The pool at the nearby "Desert Rose Inn" was totally lame, with missing tiles and murky water.
The room was spacious, if a bit dirty. The bathroom floor tiles were really, really filthy.
There are minimal choices at Uluru, and it's worth staying here. Keeping your stay to 2 days or so will work out fine.
