“Satisfactory Basic Accommodations - Great Pub Action!”

Just face it -- Uluru is so spectacular that you have to see it.

Now just face this -- the prices of the hotels in the immediate area are all exceedingly expensive. So, you've got a choice - to get gouged a little bit or a lot. We chose the lowest price accommodations that we could find. In all, this place was fine and I'd stay there again without hesitation.

The Outback Pioneer Hotel is a basic motel. The room seemed clean enough. The beds and bathroom were quite satisfactory. We were only in the room for about 10 hours. There is a small refrigerator, so we were able to buy food at the market for a picnic lunch and dinner.

The Beer Garden was packed with mostly 20-somethngs partying heartily. It was a lively atmosphere, even for us older folks. This is where the action is at night.

“Enjoyed our stay at the Outback Pioneer”

We got a good deal from a discount site for a one night stay in a hotel room. After reading some bad accommodation reviews for Uluru we decided on a stay at the three and a half star Outback Pioneer hotel room.

Well I quite liked it here. The reception staff were nice. The room was large, the bed comfortable, the mini bar well stocked, there was also a table and chairs in the room. The bathroom had the best quality shampoo etc of any where we stayed on this trip. It was well themed for a hotel in the desert.

The do-it-yourself Outback BBQ was great fun and we chose a selection of meats to try. We booked a helicopter ride over Uluru and the Olgas at sunset which was fantastic.

We hired a car for 2 days from the airport and drove to Uluru, and the Olgas, and did the free Ranger Mala Walk at 8am which was great but don't forget to take your flynet.

I am glad we chose to stay here.

“Not value for money”

All the hotels at Ayres Rock are owned by the same company. This monopoly helps keep the prices high.

The room cost was two thirds higher than the other hotels I stayed in during my trip to Australia and the room was the most basic of them all.

My sister's room had an ant's nest and a rotting apple under one of the bunk beds and was clearly not cleaned properly, she had to request a new room.

Their is very little to do in the evening after the sunset tours end except hang around in the bar.

The restaurant was very nice though.

Did the job - comfortable bed / air conditioned rooms / clean bathroom / helpful, polite staff.
We took away a lunchbox breakfast one day for a trip and found it very expensive for what we got but other than that, no problems at all.
Good live music the evening we were there.

“Excellent, and good value!”

I stayed in a dorm room with 20 beds. It was good value and I really really really enjoyed my stay!
The pool area was nice. Better than expected.
Everything was so nice. Only bad thing is that food was so expensive at Ayers Rock Resort. I went to the convenience store to buy food, cause that was the cheapest.
Would absolutely recommend this to anyone on a budget who want to see Uluru!
