“very nice if u don't spend alot”

The Henley Park Hotel

4 of 5 stars
Western Pennsylvania
Jun 6, 2008

booked thru hotwire for $79.00. Great deal for the price. Older style room are small but remind me of new York. I had a double rooom on the third floor which was just fine. It faced Massachusetts ave tho which allowed alot of traffic noise. But it was not bad at all

Location is convenient with most of the things to see in walking diet to a short cab or metro ride away. Downside is that metro stops are 4blocks away.

Be aware that lobby amenities are sparse. There is a nice looking piano bar that doubles as the restaurant. Very quaint like something out of a 50's mystery movie.

Parking is valet and $28. Some street parking is avail and neighborhood is decent (although dc is dc)

At $250 there are better bargains. But at $79. In downtown dc. I am thrilled!!!!!

Thank you for your positive feedback! With our hotel being a Historic property, we strive to keep the original touches of the lobby and restaurant area. We prefer to break from the norm and offer a truly unique experience that will differ from anything you will find in DC. I'm happy you enjoyed your stay, and will raise your concerns with the rest of the staff.

If you are ever interested in coming back to DC, please let me know and I will be happy to match or beat any rate you see online.

“Loved it - loved it - loved it!”

What a fabulous find! The hotel was a few blocks from 2 different Metro stops (Convention Center and Chinatown stops) but felt more peaceful or "out of the way" than most hotels in the heart of DC. The building had the intimate feel of an earlier, more genteel time, but the rooms were thoroughly modern and up to date. Bath and Body Works branded toiletries in the bathroom, flat screen TV with wide cable selection, and very high end bed linens were great touches. Tea is available from 4 - 6 pm (although I was unable to take part); hotel also has a bar and room service (possibly a restaurant too -- not able to confirm). The staff were very friendly and helpful. The other guests I encountered were similarly pleasant. Yes, construction is going on next door (I had a lovely view!), but they didn't start until 8 am when I was there. That worked for me. Great location and comfortable environment.

“Lovely historic hotel”

The Henley Park Hotel

4 of 5 stars
Southeast Missouri
Apr 22, 2008

I recently stayed at the Henley Park Hotel for a business meeting. The hotel was booked for the group I was with, and I do not know what the room rate was. I was a little concerned about staying there after reading some of the reviews, but I had a very nice stay. I was there for 4days/3nights, and overall, it was a great home away from home. I enjoyed the historic atmosphere of the building - it had a lot of interesting building features that you would never find in a modern chain hotel. My room was small, but it felt very homey and nice to come back to at the end of a long work day. The room was decorated in soothing colors, and the furniture was antique. I felt like I was in a cozy bedroom, as opposed to an impersonal hotel room. It was spotless each day, which I think requires special effort in an older building. The shower had excellent water pressure and lots of hot water, and the bed was comfortable. The pillows were not the most comfortable though.

I did not have any problems with the construction noise that other posters have complained about, but my room was on the opposite side of the construction. One of my group members did have trouble with the construction noise the first night - the jackhammers started at 5am, and she asked to be moved the next night, which the hotel did accomodate. Be sure and ask for a room away from the construction when making reservations. I was on the 7th floor, but I did hear some street noise, like a group of people who seemed to partying late on Sat. night. There were also a lot of sirens from ambulances, police cars, etc. that frequently woke me up at night. However, others in my group who were from large cities commented on how quiet the hotel was.

The hotel has free wireless internet, but there is no ethernet connections. I had trouble with the wireless the first night, but was finally able to get it to work by calling the technology person that the lobby staff recommended. It worked fine the rest of the time.

The hotel has a nice bar / restaurant area where there was live jazz music. It was a cozy place to sit and visit at the end of the day.

All in all, it was a positive experience, and I would recommend the Henley Park Hotel. I can't speak to the value of the room, since I didn't have to pay for it, but it was a good place to stay when on a business trip.

“We loved this hotel!”

The Henley Park Hotel

My fiance and I stayed at the Henley Park for two nights (4/18-4/20). We arrived at 3:30 am on Friday morning (Delaware I hate you!!!) and were greeted by a chipper and very friendly front desk clerk who checked us in. Our room was adorable, with a fresh new paint job on the walls and ceilings, and the bathroom was huge. The water pressure was great as was the temperature and taste. The bed was a tad small for my 6'4 hubby, but very comfortable and with the two windows open a crack we received a nice breeze that lulled us to sleep. While breakfast is very expensive we did enjoy it (oatmeal and yummy French toast). The room was so cozy it felt like home--but cleaner, haha. I've been coming to DC since I was eight years old and I love this city. We'll definitely be coming back to the Henley Park Hotel.

“Not Bad!!!”

The Henley Park Hotel

Biloxi, Mississippi
Apr 18, 2008

The first day was a bit awkward as the desk clerk hit my charge card for excess charges which caused a decline but aside from that our stay was good. The staff was attentive and immediately sought to help with any questions of small problems. There were no big problems. The hotel is next to construction but again not a problem when your inside. There is quite a bit of street noise. Probably the only negative. Our room was as offered and was very comfortable. Our maidservice was wonderful and the room looked great every time we came in from sightseeing. The bellmen were helpful and did every thing they could to make our stay good. By the way this is a beautiful medieval decor. These folks know how to run a class Hotel. We've travelled a lot and were quite impressed by this little jewel. My wife thinks this is not as glowing a review as the hotel deserves. All in all a great hotel.
