My husband and I stayed at the Hotel Lombardy when we were in town for a concert at the Kennedy Center. The hotel staff is polished, professional, friendly and attentive. They were always ready to hold the door, hail a cab, or give directions.
This boutique hotel was immaculate, like something right out of a movie! Our room was somewhat small, but stunning. And I have never seen a hotel bathroom so clean! The plush king bed was extremely comfortable, and we could not hear a sound from the city outside the entire night. Thick curtains blocked out almost all light -- what a great night's sleep!
The Hotel Lombardy is convenient to just about anything -- a 10 minute walk to the Kennedy Center, 2 blocks from the Foggy Bottom metro, 4 blocks from the White House... With tons of great, reasonably-priced places to eat, due to the nearby universities.
One word of warning -- Be patient with the elevators. They are hand-operated by the hotel staff, so it may take a minute for them to get to you. Definitely a unique feature of this hotel, I have never seen something like this before! My husband and I found this a treat, despite the brief wait.
Overall, I would strongly recommend this hotel to anyone wishing to stay in the Georgetown area of DC. We booked our room on Expedia, and it was only about $100 / night, plus $30 / night valet parking. Especially at such a low price, this was one of the best hotels we have ever stayed at.
