We stayed here for one night. While I personally prefer newer hotels, this hotel was fine. I liked being able to check in online and keys to our room were waiting for us when we arrived at 10 AM. Also, it was convenient to a metro station. The room was acceptable, although being an older hotel, it had that older hotel smell. The pool looked fun, but we didn't have a chance to swim given our one night stay.
I went to DC for a meeting with hundreds of people from throughout the country. We booked rooms under a government rate (around $200/night) so I'm sure I wasn't even in the *nicest* room (I know there are "better" rooms that cost more). The staff here was incredibly friendly - literally every single person from the valets to the check-in staff to room service to the concierge. The check-in counters were plentiful and the room was just beautiful. It was very spacious and had lots of natural light. There was lots of room to move around. The bed and linens were so comfortable and very clean. The bathroom had a nice tall shower with good water pressure. Everything was so clean, and the turn-down service with chocolates on the pillow was nice, too. The room had ample lighting and plugs for working, but the curtains could make the room dark enough to sleep even in full daylight. It was such a wonderful experience. Room service, the pool, and the conference facilities were good, too. The hotel is also one block from the Woodley Park metro station, so a car is not necessary. I'm glad I stayed here. If I had a choice, I would stay here every time I was in DC, whether for business or pleasure. Go and stay in this hotel!
Loved the Omni. Great location just across street from Metro. Hotel grounds are beautiful, hammocks, nice pool etc. We had a great oversized room , a/c was nice and cold, balcony overlooking Rock Creek Park. The staff was great with the exception of the pool area - the staff seemed a little unknowledgable on how to make drinks, and not very good service in general.
I would definately recommend the Omni Shoreham.
I stayed here for a business trip. Not what I expected. The room was small, had a very noisy AC and everything looked like an old motel room with superficial renovations.
The hotel had only one restaurant with a limited menu (especially for vegetarians) and a very slow service. The hotel smelled bad after each summer rain shower, as if the sewer system couldn't handle the extra water.
The location is great, right at the Rock Creek trail, ideal for running in the morning.
Would probably not stay here again. There is a Mariott right up the street.
