We booked through the Disney site, and decided we would go for a cheaper motel so we had more fun $, and figured we wouldn't be spending much time in the hotel. We spent 5 nights here. I had read reviews on here and decided there were enough positives that it couldn't be too bad. We did arrive early, like maybe 2 hours ahead of check-in, but due to the full house the night before, they were not allowing early check-in. Not too big a deal, but would have been nice. We got a room in the main bldg., on the 4th floor. Our first impression upon walking in was okay. My husband was leery due to the fact he stayed at a scummy Motel 6 on a work trip the week before. Upon further inspection I was bummed to find we didn't have tissues or a hairdryer. I must have missed the reviews saying bring your hairdryer. It wasn't that a big deal, as I can fix my hair without, but the fact there were no tissues or even a place where there would be tissues was crazy. The towels were very crappy--thin and on the rough side, but at least we had fresh towels everyday. I had noticed the carpet (dark green) had several dark stains all over. The underside of the bedspread was pretty dirty. I have a phobia about hotel bedspreads anyway, being I was a hotel maid and know they are not washed everyday, so I usually don't sleep with it pulled up. The first night we are sitting on the beds, getting ready to go to sleep, and my youngest son said he saw a bug crawl under the pillow. My husband found it, got a tissue to pick it up, and walked by me with a horrified look. I asked what it was, and he whispered "cockroach". GROSSSSSS!!! For the next 5 days, we battled cockroaches, killing as many as 3 at one time. They were in the drawers, the bathroom, the sink. I now know what the dark spots on the carpet were. One night as we came back from Disney, we saw a cart full of bug vacs being delivered to the front desk, so obviously this is a problem here. We don't have cockroaches where we live (too cold), so I was just thoroughly disgusted by them. Someone made the mistake of leaving the lid off our rubbermaid food box, and one managed to get in there, so I had to throw out anything that was open. I did not say anything to the front desk, because it's not like being moved to another room would have made it better. We just decided to deal with it and spend as little time there as possible, coming in late and leaving early to the park. I normally don't like maids to come in and clean the room on an extended stay, but we let them come in every single day, to vacuum up any crumbs and empty the garbages, hoping it would keep the bugs away. One of my kids had spilled some juice from a fruit cup on the sheet, and amazingly enough, they didn't change the sheets the whole time we were there. The motel was easy to find, and the walk to Disney was not bad at all. They have a pool, and a gift store in the lobby, wtih snacks and drinks. No continental breakfast. If we go again, we will pay a little extra to stay at a non-roach motel.
