“Just the basics”

Motel 6 Anaheim Maingate

Jun 28, 2008

We stayed one night. Stayed in a remodelled room. It was spacious with a laminate flooring, a small TV, a desk suitable for
business travellors and quiet. It was okay but NO extras and the beds were a little older and the towels a little thin. The hotel has some arcade games and a pool which I didn't use. It is a stop on the Anaheim Resort Transit. which is great. There are many hotels in Anaheim, I would recommend spending just a few more dollars to stay at a nicer place.

“Never again!”

Motel 6 Anaheim Maingate

I would never stay here again! Though I have to give the Manager a pat on the back for getting us a refridgerator for my medicine, and the staff was very friendly, that was the only good thing. It's too long of a walk to Disneyland, so take the shuttle or drive. We drove to the park which the parking entrance is literally up the street. We were already staying in the area over in Cypress CA (6miles from Anaheim) at a very nice property, and decided to drive over to the Motel 6 to check it out the day before we were to start our Disney vacation. We booked our travel through Disney.com and decided to trust this property since it was listed as a "Good Neighbor Hotel"........Disney really needs to visit this place and remove it! I was glad we stopped by the hotel a day early because we wanted to see if we could check in early the next day, they looked us up in the computer and did not show us arriving until our departure date! So we had to drive back over (6 miles) to the great Woodfin Suites in Cypress where we had been staying (would definately stay there again!) to get our documents to show our check in date. Got that taken care of relatively easy. When we did get to our room on the 2nd floor it had vinyl flooring and smelled so dank and dingy and of smoke, it was horrible. We went and bought some Lysol spray to get rid of some of the smell. The bathroom smelled of mold & mildew and when you stepped in to take a shower, you slipped, the build up of soap scum was horrible, so we had to put a towel down to stand on. My boyfriends pillow had black grease all over it, which the front desk replaced. After a long day at Disneyland, we wanted to go back and relax in a nice, clean hotel, and that was not this hotel. We couldn't wait to leave! We wanted to stay at a cheaper place to have more money to spend in the parks, but we regret that decision!! We have stayed at numerous Motel 6's and have not had this problem, guess we have been lucky!

The staff was very helpful, nice and very accomidating, but the hotel room was disgusting!

“Ewww.....”

Motel 6 Anaheim Maingate

We booked through the Disney site, and decided we would go for a cheaper motel so we had more fun $, and figured we wouldn't be spending much time in the hotel. We spent 5 nights here. I had read reviews on here and decided there were enough positives that it couldn't be too bad. We did arrive early, like maybe 2 hours ahead of check-in, but due to the full house the night before, they were not allowing early check-in. Not too big a deal, but would have been nice. We got a room in the main bldg., on the 4th floor. Our first impression upon walking in was okay. My husband was leery due to the fact he stayed at a scummy Motel 6 on a work trip the week before. Upon further inspection I was bummed to find we didn't have tissues or a hairdryer. I must have missed the reviews saying bring your hairdryer. It wasn't that a big deal, as I can fix my hair without, but the fact there were no tissues or even a place where there would be tissues was crazy. The towels were very crappy--thin and on the rough side, but at least we had fresh towels everyday. I had noticed the carpet (dark green) had several dark stains all over. The underside of the bedspread was pretty dirty. I have a phobia about hotel bedspreads anyway, being I was a hotel maid and know they are not washed everyday, so I usually don't sleep with it pulled up. The first night we are sitting on the beds, getting ready to go to sleep, and my youngest son said he saw a bug crawl under the pillow. My husband found it, got a tissue to pick it up, and walked by me with a horrified look. I asked what it was, and he whispered "cockroach". GROSSSSSS!!! For the next 5 days, we battled cockroaches, killing as many as 3 at one time. They were in the drawers, the bathroom, the sink. I now know what the dark spots on the carpet were. One night as we came back from Disney, we saw a cart full of bug vacs being delivered to the front desk, so obviously this is a problem here. We don't have cockroaches where we live (too cold), so I was just thoroughly disgusted by them. Someone made the mistake of leaving the lid off our rubbermaid food box, and one managed to get in there, so I had to throw out anything that was open. I did not say anything to the front desk, because it's not like being moved to another room would have made it better. We just decided to deal with it and spend as little time there as possible, coming in late and leaving early to the park. I normally don't like maids to come in and clean the room on an extended stay, but we let them come in every single day, to vacuum up any crumbs and empty the garbages, hoping it would keep the bugs away. One of my kids had spilled some juice from a fruit cup on the sheet, and amazingly enough, they didn't change the sheets the whole time we were there. The motel was easy to find, and the walk to Disney was not bad at all. They have a pool, and a gift store in the lobby, wtih snacks and drinks. No continental breakfast. If we go again, we will pay a little extra to stay at a non-roach motel.

“Great Value with No Extras”

Motel 6 Anaheim Maingate

Apr 28, 2008

We booked thru the Disney Travel Company & knew that Motel 6 would be very basic. No extras (hairdryers, continental breakfast, etc). We didn't plan on spending much time in our room & we just needed a safe place to sleep & shower.
Our room had just been remodeled.....was a little shocked when we entered our room & there wasn't any carpeting. They had removed the carpets & put in hardwood flooring (of some sort). It was actually nice looking & made the room look cleaner & bigger. We had 3 adults & 2 children with 2 queen beds. (we brought along a toddler sized blow-up bed) & it worked just fine.
We depended on wake up calls every morning & had no problems with them.....right on time every day. We never made it to the pool but it looked like people were really enjoying it.
We used the Anaheim Resort Transit to get back & forth to Disneyland (we will never do that again). You can walk to the parks but it is probably close to 8/10ths of a mile.
There's a small gift shop with cold drinks & other items you may need. The prices actually weren't that bad & the owner was always friendly.
If you just want a place to sleep & shower, you're not looking for all the extras & you want to save your money to spend elsewhere during your trip........then Motel 6 would be fine.
We plan on staying there again on our next trip.

“Very basic but just fine for a clean place to sleep!”

Booked through Disney Travel, saved a TON of money. Don't forget your hairdryer, like I did. They really have no extras, but it's a clean, safe place to sleep in between partying at Disneyland. They let us check in early which really helped us!

If you're wanting your hotel experience to be something special, go somewhere else. If, like us, you just need a place to sleep close to the park, BOOK THIS HOTEL.
