“It was ok.”

Well, it ws just ok. I was a little disapointed about the distance to Disneyland. The walk was a little longer than expected. After a day of walking ( 10 ) hours, the walk was gruelling. The Hotel was ok. The room had some stains, and the bathroom had no fans. It was very noisy ( people were standing outside my room at 5am haveing a conversation like it was 5pm ( not the Hotel's fault though) But someone was vacuuming at 10:30 pm???? The Hotel staff could have been more friendly, but not rude or anything. Bottom line, if you don't mind walking 3 very long blocks+ and you don't mind a few satins on furniture and bedding then this is the place for you. Oh by the way there was a hidden charge of $50 per night deposit for the room. It is refundable though, and $10 per day parking ( non refundable). Next time we will stay at one of the Hotel's accross the street from Disney...it's worth the extra $20.

“Very good stay at Anaheim Maingate Hotel”

Anaheim Maingate Hotel

4 of 5 stars
Seattle, WA

Just returned from a pleasant stay at Anaheim Maingate Hotel. Our room was recently renovated and was clean/large. Pool area was clean and well maintained. Front desk staff were pleasant and helpful. The walk to Disneyland was short and kind of a nice stroll with my little one after a day/night at the park. Other than my room not having a microwave/fridge....I really have no complaints! The negative reviews I read really confuse me, but every experience is different!

“Great Pool, Comfortable Beds, Good Customer Service”

Anaheim Maingate Hotel

4 of 5 stars

When I got this hotel through Priceline for our Disneyland stay and then went on and read the reviews I was terrified! But when we arrived I was very pleasantly surprised. We have stayed at the Hyatt, Doubletree Suites, and the Hilton on our Disneyland trips before, but I guess my expectations are still reasonable. We loved our stay at the Anaheim Maingate Hotel.

For the cost this is a wonderful hotel. Yes, the hotel is older with a planned multimillion dollar renovation. However, it is clean, in a great location -about a block and a half down the street from Disneyland- and it has a great pool. Both the Doubletree and the Hyatt in the Disneyland area have glorified hot tubs for pools because they are so small and only go to 5 feet deep. We were thrilled with this pool where you can actually swim laps. Also, because it goes to 8 feet deep, my two oldest children spent the whole time practicing and perfecting their diving. The pool temperature was also perfect, not too hot, not too cold.

The shampoos and lotions are from Bath and Body Works, and actually work! The beds are comfortable, more so than the beds at the Hilton. The shower is a little tricky but the bath worked great for the kids. With all the other things that we loved, the tricky shower was a small tradeoff. My only huge regret is that I believed the bad reviews, and so I didn't extend our stay for the last two nights of our trip, and instead ended up with a nightmarish motel that was much farther away from our planned activities.

The customer service is great at this hotel. They are very friendly and helpful. Red Lion has brought the property and is upgrading and updating as previously mentioned. We had a really good experience there. Just don't expect the Hyatt and you'll be pleasantly surprised. We would be thrilled if we stayed here again on subsequent Disneyland trips.

The complaints will out way the compliments, in this one. But Don't let it stop you from staying. They're not THAT bad.
No Fridge
No Microwave
Water changed temperature quite a bit in the shower
Menu was EXPENSIVE (I took a cpl pics of it for you to see for yourself)
NO FREE CONTINENTAL BREAKFAST
10.95 for adults and 6.95 for kids for their breakfast buffet, We ate Jack in the box.
Iron burns on carpet
$10 a day parking EVEN FOR GUESTS
Check in 3pm NO EARLIER (we tried)
FREE Wireless internet
Friendly customer service
Convenient to C-stores, Jack in the box, Target is somewhat close, Disney is close too.
Clean room, clean halls, coffee maker, ice dish, about 25 channels on tv. Over all, its not BAD, and if I would have used a different website to book it would have been 49 dollars a night instead of 59.

“It was OK”

Anaheim Maingate Hotel

2 of 5 stars
Bay Area California
Jul 14, 2008

We stayed here last October 2007.

Heres the thing - This place wasnt our 1st option. We booked too late and werent able to stay at our desired hotel.

So we were given this place as option 2.

We arrived on "Gay day" not knowing it was gay day. So the building was BOOKED. I came with my girlfriend. We got there early, and werent given the single bed room we asked for. Apparently they were all taken. That kinda pissed me off. I didnt come to anaheim to sleep in seperate beds with my significant other. The fact we had to wait 30 min PAST check-in to get a room we didnt pay for was disgusting. Although we may have had one of the best "views" from our room of DCA, it didnt make up for the mixup. The view wasnt all that great.

The electric doors didnt work either. The front desk told me it might be the card so they replaced ours, with cards that didnt work. haha Sometimes we got lucky and didnt have to walk all the way around the building to get in because a guest was either entering or exiting and kept it open for us as we approached.

For a 8 night stay here, those electric doors are my biggest complaint.

The elevators in the moring were a bit of a hassle as well. All the cleaning maids would use them and it took longer for guests to get to where they needed to be. But its not their fault.

The best part of my stay, was the bellman, KING, if you see this, whatsup man. Thanks for everything you did to make my stay worth while. Hes from the bay area too so we got along well. When you stay more than a week at a hotel you get to know some of the employees. ahah.

Im not sure what changes have been made since then, but the week we were there they had begun changing the name of the place. I most likely will never stay here again, nor would i encourage anybody else to. But thats based on MY experience. Its all personal preference. If you prefer to walk around the entire building, stay here.
