“good but expensive for San Pedro...”

San Pedro Holiday Hotel

Walked into this hotel. Returning to Belize in April with the University of Virginia's Cavalier Travels program but will probably not stay in this hotel. For $85 US I thought that it was a bit expensive for what you get. Really just a budget hotel at non-budget price. Simple clean room with Air conditioning (Very important in Belize). No TV. Room was clean. Bar prices are way too high. (Probably why they were mostly empty.) A cheap local rum was $4 US. They did have free internet (wireless) in the bar that worked well.

“Good location, but certainly not luxurious”

This hotel met our basic needs, but it is not luxurious in any sense but location. The location is good if you want to be right on the beach in the middle of town. However, if you want quiet evenings then you might consider that down the beach there is a band that plays on the sand and its base can be very loud and distracting. I would stay at this hotel if location is your number one priority and you don't mind a little noise.

This was a great hotel for the price. It was right on the beach, in the middle of town and had decent rooms. We had friends who stayed in one of the upstairs rooms in the main building -- and that was really nice. Our room was basic and clean. I would definitely stay there again.

“A great San Pedro experience!”

If you want to be in the center of San Pedro and all that it has to offer, this is the place!

My fiancee and I just spent six nights at the Holiday Hotel in a beachfront room. Talk about convenient and relaxing...

To start, this hotel epitomizes the Ambergris Caye, Belize experience. It definitely does not bring about an overly tourist vibe. The staff members are very friendly, and you can alway see them working hard around the property making sure it is well-maintained.

This hotel is pleasantly basic. It has everything one truly needs, without any frills. I mean, does a person on holiday really need to always be waited on hand-and-foot, with Egyptian cotton robes, 800-thread count sheets, and Godiva chocolates under the pillow every night? If you do, then this will not be the place for you.

As a hotel General Manager myself, I can say that the owner (Celi McCorkle) runs a great hotel. The place is very clean and has a great restaurant, bar, and deli which you can tell are run with a great deal of pride.

But aside from the hotel property itself, this place is all about location. Almost every major watersports tour company is within a minute or two walk. Check out SEArious Adventures for the Manatee Watch and Snorkeling Tour. The best highlight of this tour is going to Goff's Caye. If you want the see and swim in some of the some of the most crystal clear turquoise waters on earth, then check this out. They do a great beach BBQ lunch there. Also, the tour guides are fun Belizean dudes. They bring ample Belikins, rum punch, sodas, and water to quench your thirst throughout the day. Bring PLENTY of sunscreen though. This is an 8-hour tour on the water under the Belizean sun.

Great restaurants abound, and are again, within a short walk. Check out Celi's Restaurant (on-site), Tackle Box (great seafood and bar atmosphere), Caliente (Mexican food), and Blue Water Grill (seafood, steaks, etc. in a more upscale atmosphere).

As relaxing is also a big sport on the island, the porch in front of the beachfront rooms is awesome. Bring a book, some tunes, and kick back. Great people-watching as well.

And I can't forget to mention the live music and nightlife right outside your door. Most nights you can enjoy the tunes until the wee hours of the morning coming from the local establishments.

Overall, this is an awesome place to stay to experience the authenticity of Belize and the island of Ambergris Caye. Hope you have fun!

“I Love this place!”

San Pedro Holiday Hotel

This my forth trip to San Pedro and my forth stay here. I just love this place. The people and atmosphere are just wonderful. I feel a connection with San pedro and have made some good friends here over my visits.

We stayed in one of the larger rooms on the first floor. Since my last trip the palm trees have grown so much, so the view is now restricted from some rooms and the veranda area from the bar. However, we had a double and two singles in our room, air con, fans and TV and fridge. Great. The room was clean and tidy and maid service every day with a smile.

The hotel bar is great to sample cocktails and meet new people. I also recommend the restaurant. We had lunch several times here. Also
you can get some breakfast from the take away across the road. The cakes are amazing!

We booked a weeks windsurf and gear hire from sailsports belize, which is located infront of the hotel. You can learn to windsurf, kitesurf or sail a hobbie cat here. The reef is so close and the water so clear and beautiful. I recommend you have a go just to get your feet wet.

We didn't get the good wind strengths that we had hoped to windsurf and my other half was upset he put on weight from all the great food and did not get as much windsurf exercise as he hoped, but it didn't spoil my stay at all. I am hoping to return again soon.

I would recommend this hotel as a great place to stay. Very friendly,
helpful staff, so close to all the bars and restaurants. Clean and good value. Can't wait to come back. :0)
