“great iew over medina and perfect tagine”

Les Merinides

Zutphen

Stayed 2 nights in the hotel as part of a week around the King cities (Meknes, Rabat, Fez + Marrakech). Great view over the old medina: but too far to walk to it (and also too far from 'new' city).
Decent rooms,nice pool and obby.
Had a super Tagine in the top floor restaurant. Co-traveler is Morrocan national and he thought the Tagine was super.

Staff was pleasant but not extreme friendly.

If you have your own transport or if you don't mind using local taxi's it is a nice spot. If you want a hotel where you can walk around to shop or have a drink/meal you'd better find another hotel.

“What a View!”

We spent a week at this hotel taking day trips to Volubilis, Meknes and the Middle Atlas in addition to touring Fes. The room was lovely and although we had a bit of trouble mastering the shower and not getting water everywhere, the bath was also excellent. The staff treated us very well, even going to the local pharmacy to get cold medicine for me.
Each evening we sat on the terrace and listened to the call to prayer echo throughout the city, Drinking our mint tea after dinner, the lights of Fes flickering below - it was a wonderful end to our long and very tiring days.
Our only complaint was the sameness of the food. Breakfast and dinner are buffets and the basic menu did not vary greatly from day to day. This would not be a problem for most - the average stay seemed to be one or two nights - but we were there long enough to be tired of the menu.

“Nice Room, Mediocre hotel”

There are two advantages to this hotel:

1. The view is spectacular and I am told the only hotel in Fez with this type of view.
2. It's out of the medina which could be a nice advantage after enough time has been spent in the craziness of the main city

There are too many disadvantages to list but since the rooms are only fair and the service terrible, I would suggest for most people coming here for a nice drink on the patio and staying somewhere else.

If you still want to stay here, be sure to have the hotel get you a taxi because the walk to the taxi stand 7 mins away is creepy at night. not a bad area, just tons of people and I am saying this on my 14th night traveling all over Morocco.

If you are a light sleeper and have a room overlooking the front entrance, you will be woken at 4.35 am with the call to prayer. A pretty average hotel it is now owned by "Places & Traditions". Service is slow due to lack of staff but rooms are clean and the bath is long
