we stayed 5 nights, B+B,main objective was to play golf and have relaxation. The hotel was clean, good breakfeast, good choice of food in buffet also at supper (optional to pay for evening meals),great sandwichess/salads by pool bar, drinks aren't cheap, they make good mint tea.
Water was cool in outside pool, so we swam in indoor pool-slightly warmer (free before 3pm) ,they have an expensive programme for gym/hamam/beauty treatmants/massage etc.
The rooms were cleaned daily, no problems with bathroom/toilet/beds.
there was a loud singer in bar- Zanzibar, which we generally missed out on as we ate mostly in Medina square restaurants...food is slightly cheaper.
fantastic gardens of hotel, to walk around in,
they have tennis courts, but we played 6 rds of golf...AMELKIS/ROYAL/PALMERIAE,the former two has a hotel shuttle bus take you in am 8am,bring you back 130pm, or pick up from hotel at 115pm to 6pm.
We got used 1-2 taxi drivers, which we used mostly for golf/travel to medina/trip to Atlas mountains/village...much cheaper than Medhotels /organised tours...same tours for fraction of price, and it is safe.
In Grand taxi-Mercedes-airport to hotel should cost 150-200 Dh;hotel to medina return- 150-200 Dh;to golf courses 150 Dh -return.
On the whole it was a great trip, sunshine most days, temp was 26-32' C;2 days cloudy but warm still.

We have just returned from Marrakech having stayed at the Tikida Garden Hotel. I can recommend this beautifully run hotel absolutely for its cleanliness, facilities and very importantly, for its food. Marrakech itself is a heady mixture of ancient and modern, a culture that fires all the senses. You will not be disappointed! In stark contrast, the hotel offers an oasis of calm. Located only 10 minutes drive from the city, it could be a million miles away ... beautiful gardens, a fantastic pool, health spa, tennis and great food. The temperature was around 80o F at this time of year. Utterly recommended.

“Not for us”

Le Tikida Garden Hotel

We arrived at the hotel from the Luton flight, had been up at 3 a.m. arrived at hotel some time after 11 a.m. and were not shown to our room for nearly 2 hours, we were not offered a tea, coffee, drink or an apology for having to wait so long for a room, we actually saw the Hotel video which did cause some amusement, we were not shown that level of friendliness in all the time we were there. Even though I asked several times when the room would be ready I only received a cursory response i.e. soon soon. The rooms were fine, quite basic, kept very clean and sheets regularly changed.

The fridge in room did not work very well, leaked and the ice compartment never worked, asked at reception two or three times re this, eventually it was fixed, it was certainly never very cold. We were never replenished with drinks at all in the 10 days we stayed at the hotel, we bought it from the shop outside as silly prices in hotel for basic water or juice and cooler than fridge in our room.

Breakfast was fine but some problem with tea and coffee in the end got up and helped myself which caused them some concern. As stated by other guests think you would have been fine if you spoke French, but they were very attentive on the day we left!

The Zanzibar was quite dull and the musical entertainment was pretty dire, same band each night and not very good. There was not, or did not seem to be, any other entertainment whilst we there, apart from themed nights in restaurant.

Food was fine but it is so cheap in the town and more pleasant atmosphere. Plenty of choice in hotel but quite sterile environment.

I think the problem we had is that we were three women, myself and my two daughters, who by the way thought it was horrible and they have travelled quite extensively, I did find the attitude different if there was a male in the party.

We eventually escaped to Essouria for 5 days and had a lovely time there, don't do a trip get the local bus very cheap and stay over a couple of nights, it was great and that was the best part of our holiday.

I found the receptionists quite rude and unhelpful, asked several times to use internet, never seemed to be working, when I asked, after 3 days, when would it be working was told to go outside, where outside received no response, in the end a young boy from the local town took me to an internet cafe, probably because we were looking rather lost.

Would I go to this hotel again, no but would return to Morocco.

“"fabulous hotel" shame about the food”

Le Tikida Garden Hotel

Just returned from a week in Marrakech staying at Le Tikida Garden Hotel, half board. We had reservations before booking after reading some mixed reviews but were pleasantly surprised. The hotel is situated on a large well landscaped land. We booked a twin room(with an extra bed for a child). The room was very CLEAN! and everytime we came back the beds were made up differently which was nice. Overall the hotel was very nice and clean. Most of the people who stayed in this hotel were french. The hotel catered more to the needs of the french tourists however we were not ignored!
The staff were excellent and always helped and advised on what to do. We got aquainted with an excellent taxi driver who we 'semi employed' to take us around. It was far less expensive than booking tours with the hotel.
The food was very bland, and catered mainly for the french guests. We expected a bit more from a 4 star hotel, and after a couple of days it became boring. Breakfast was the worst.
Hotel a little far from the main square but it was good to come back to the clam and serenity of this hotel after a really busy day. You can always get taxis outside the hotel. Grand taxis cost around 50D and petit taxis cost around 30-40D but will only take three passengers.
Marrakech is an excellent place to visit, the sounds, smells and visuals of Jama El Fna is a cultural delight. A visit to cascade de ozoud is a must with breathtaking views. Morrocan people were really friendly!

“Loved Marrakech and the Tikida Garden Hotel”

Le Tikida Garden Hotel

Hey

Just back from a 5 day trip to Marrakech & thought I would mention on here what a great place it was for a holiday. The staff @ the hotel were really friendly and the food was great, loads of choice and a different selection each evening. Lots of palm trees and a big pool (although a bit cold for this time of year :-))

Le Comptoir (belly dancing) & Jad Demal are worth a visit, the band at the Jad Demal on at midnight was fantastic, a bit pricey but worth every penny.

Lots to do during the day & a good nightife, it was not over-touristy at all and no one really bothered us asking for money etc.

Top place :-)
