“Beautiful and Pleasant”

Majorelle Garden (Jardin Majorelle)

I would say take a few minutes before travelling and read up on the history of the garden and its relative recent restoration (its not boring , honest!)

It is a pleasant getaway, as other reviewers have said. My wife and I did see plantation and beauty we had not previously encountered and did feel very relaxed and cool as we strolled around the garden.

We did appreciate what the garden offered and did go into the museum of islamic arts and found it interesting (we are muslim by faith and so this is obviously ones own choice whether to pay the little extra and go in)

Overall a very relaxing experience and recommended.

Went to the Majorelle Gardens recently, very pleasant gardens with some very impressive plants and architecture. Great way to escape the city, its very peaceful inside and all the water and greenery makes you feel cooler & calmer. There is also a museum of islamic arts (we didnt go in as you had to pay extra), a small boutique and a cafe (not sure how another reviewer missed these?). The cafe makes really nice fruit drinks, although not cheap for Morocco standards.
Only down sides were , slightly busy for its size . We seemed to arrive the same time as two coach loads of french tourists. The other is the taxi`s waiting outside asking exuberant prices, our Riad was only a 10 min walk away but due to a sandstorm we wanted a taxi. They were trying to charge us 60 dirham, instead of a normal 10-20 dirham. Managed to find one for 20 in the end.

“Overrated”

From reading our guidebook we thought this was going to be much larger and more beautiful than it is. You can walk around it in about ten minutes and as it's a bit of a hike out of the medina I don't think it's worth the effort. We did use getting there as an excuse to have a trip in a caleche and that was the best bit! It does have some good cacti but other than that it is just tiny lawns you're not allowed to walk on, and practically no flowers. There is nowhere to buy a drink or even any toilets so you can't linger for a few hours even if you wanted to. There were lots of people visiting so it obviously gets good reviews in all the guidebooks but personally, I thought it was disappointing.

“Not the oasis I expected”

I had heard a lot about these gardens and went there expecting an oasis of tranquility where I could sit in peace for a few hours and read my book. When I got there I found that it was very crowded, with tourists occupying every bench and people walking along every path. The blue building and colourful pots lining the paths were very beautiful but I ended up doing just one round of the place and leaving, as I thought I could find more peace in a cafe! Maybe I went at the wrong time of day (just after lunch) and things are different in the AM...

“Perfect to escape the marrakech heat!”

This garden had plants and flowers from all of over the world, which were pretty interesting to look at. However the best thing was that you could walk around in pleasant and cool surroundings unlike the medina in marrakech where its usually too hot!
