“Enjoyed my stay.”

Grand Court Hotel

May 30, 2008

Stayed at the Grand Court for four nights as part of a tour group. My preference is for smaller hotels when I travel independently. This hotel is used by many tour groups so it is always busy, just too big for me. The plus side was that I met people from all over the world. The breakfast and dinner buffets were wonderful, great variety and everything was good. The staff were friendly and very accommodating. I had a double room for single use and the room was nice-sized and cleaning standards were high. The location of the hotel is great, a short walk to Damascus Gate. So for those who like large hotels, I believe this would be a good option.

    • Liked — Food buffets, central location
    • Disliked — Size, too big for my personal taste.

“Seriously Lacking Compared to Other Hotels in Same Price Range”

Grand Court Hotel

May 27, 2008

Compared to other hotels in the same price range the amenities you receive at the Grand Court are seriously sub-standard. There are no toiletries provided other than a combined body wash/shampoo that is in a wall dispenser. Each room is stocked with only two towels and it takes several hours to get additional when requested. Dishes at breakfast were dirty and service was extremely limited. One morning all of the cut fruit had been eaten and cleared but was not replenished until I specifically requested. There is no concierge. The hotel desk is understaffed and when you ask basic questions about local attractions or car-rental agencies they are unable to assist. Furthermore, when we checked out, they tried to bill us a second time for a room we had already prepaid for.

We travelled to this hotel with our toddler. We ate dinner twice in the hotel lounge and it took 45 minutes from the time we sat down to get our food. That does not work for most young children. Furthermore, the crib was tiny and my child’s toes stuck out the end. One bonus was that they were able to provide a baby sitter.

  • This TripAdvisor Member:
    • Liked — Ability to provide a baby sitter.
    • Disliked — Horrible service in all areas.

“Nice surprise”

Grand Court Hotel

We did not choose the Grand Court, our tour chose it for us. Based on the other hotels the tour company had placed us in, we were a little apprehensive, but were pleasantly surprised at this lovely hotel. It was modern and clean, nice pool and a decent restaurant. Except for the front desk, the staff was wonderful. I'd have no hestitation recommending this hotel.

  • This TripAdvisor Member:
    • Liked — The pool was very nice, the hotel was clean, restaurant and bar staff very nice;
    • Disliked — Front desk was understaffed, so it look a long time for them deal with even the simplest requests and they seemed annoyed while helping us.

“Aweful!”

Grand Court Hotel

2 of 5 stars
Calgary

General outside of the hotel is great as is the lobby.

I was located in the basement. The hallway carpets had all kinds of stains. The bedroom had oil and beverage stains all over them. The walls were dirty, chipped paint. I couldn't walk in my bare feet.

Bathroom had "alien" hairs in the tub and around the floor.

Food was fair although it was prepared for the "masses" convention style food.

Lounge service was good.

Supposedly rated "four stars" by the agent. This hotel would be lucky to make 1 or 2 stars in NA.

“Great Overall”

Grand Court Hotel

May 20, 2008

Was in Israel to celebrate the country's 60th anniversary, went with a large tour group, needless to say i had a blast in Israel and the hotel was great i had no problems whatsover apart from having to reset my roomkey twice which is annoying as it is quite a trek from room to reception but the rooms where comfortable, shower excellent, as from previous reviews no coffee or tea sachets in room but you could easily get a supply from breakfast. Food was excellent, plenty of salad and local cheese at breakfast and rolls, cereals, porridge, all sorts of eggs and omelettes and even potato bake which is yummy, fruit is great especially the watermelons, i could go on and on..staff friendly, checkout and check in smooth. Will definately go back again if budget can afford, also its short walk to the Garden Tomb and city centre. But i highly recommend this hotel great gift shop next door at novotel which is very cheap considering its a hotel shop so visit it first before you go to bazar.stay here instead of Novotel as i tried food at novotel and its bad compared to what you get a grand court.

    • Liked — Food and location, bar opens late excellent snacks
    • Disliked — having to reset door key often to get in
