we knew we were in for a holiday to beat all others but the hospitality shown to us by all at benjors made us feel so at home we cried when we had to leave. Our daughter's wedding will never be out done. What a perfect location for a once in a lifetime event. cant wait til july next year when we will be back. We spent 5 days at Benjor in the retreat, and could have stayed for ever. Hosts, Greg, Miranda, Ben, and Jordan were perfect and made us feel like part of the family, as did all the staff. This place is perfect for relaxation, it is somewhat isolated from Vila, a 15 minute bus ride, but once youve been to town once or twice theres no need to go back in. The restaurant and bar is fantastic, and the food and service is of the highest quality. Snorkelling is average to above average, and is easily accessible from most places along the property's waterfront. The pool provided an excellent retreat during the day or night when the tide wasnt perfect for snorkelling. My wife's a bit of a worrier, but even she was amazingly relaxed whilst at Benjor. We stayed at Erakor Island for seven days before going to Benjor, and in hindsight would head straight for Benjor. For anybody who wants to spend some time in Vila, I would recommend spending a day or two right in the city - this will be long enough, then head for the seclusion of Benjor.

Our elderly parents pre-empted us and stayed at benjor Beach Club in the "Retreat". Having always wanted a tropical island holiday they were not disappointed. They were beautifully looked after eg. After dining in the Restaurant one evening they lost their way and the watchfull staff gently led them back to their accomodation by torch light. They felt safe and happy and with a private hot-tub, very pampered.
Arriving a month later in the middle of the night we were welcomed by Jane and David, the managers and a band at the airport which really added to the atmosphere. The villa we had booked was simple, clean and spacious exactly as pictured on the website.(For an extra few dollars we could have had a Villa with a spa bath)The Restaurant was exceptional. Great food, wine and cocktails and not outrageously expensive. We had a fabulous time doing an "Around the Island" tour which took in a beautifull sandy beach, a cultural village tour after a canoe ride, snorkelling etc. Lazing by and in the pool was hard to take. My birthday fell during our stay and on the spurr of the moment we decided to fly to Tanna to see a live Volcano and stay in a Tree House. But that's another story. On our return to Benjor we went to Mele Cascades, 5 mins away by bus A very nice security guard who had been watching people's belongings whilst they bathed eventually had to ask us to go, We would have just stayed for the rest of our holiday!! Benjor is laid back, private and not like the big resorts. That's what makes it special. We have been home for 6 months and I have meant to write a review and after reading a couple lately I felt we should put our views into the mix.
Look for negatives and you will find them. 23 acres of beach front land. Landscaped around the pool, restaurant and villas. The rest ie grass plains make a great driving range and helipad. My first try at PUTPUT and I got a hole in one probably helped by the debris on the concrete course. Yes we got the floor wet and sloshed about in the bathroom thanks to no shower curtain but nothing sopping up with used towels due for the laundry didn't fix. As for rubbish on the beach (mostly drifting in from tourist boats) Instead of taking photos of it. We took a plastic bag and picked it up on our early morning walk, same as we do on every beach we visit. Getting into town and around was not a problem
we simply took the taxis or buses that brought people to the Resort or booked via the staff. Half the fun of getting about was the round about way of getting there. Not glitzy or ritzy just lovely.Thank you Benjor staff. We'll be back
