We stayed 3 days and found the York a great Location, 5 mins walk to Orchard Road, large room and very good, clean, quiet, staff very good, Breakfast good...(eggs not hot sometimes), TV coverage poor. Room not ready when we arrived 6.30p which was not good after a flight from Australia. Would definately stay there again. Maybe they could offer free Broadband in these days which would be a bonus..

Premise: I went to Singapore as part of a study abroad so I did not choose the hotels.

This hotel is in a great location. It is a block from a major shopping road (I'm sorry I forget the name right now but it's big). The hotel itself is very clean, the staff are knowledgeable and very nice, the room is nice, the bathrooms are clean. There is wifi available in the room for an exorbitant amount, but you gotta do whatcha gotta do. The wifi is a good connection with fast access. There is a big pool and jacuzzi. The breakfast wasn't impressive.

All in all I thought this was an excellent choice and if you're looking for a nice hotel in a good area, I recommend the York.

I also went to the Raffles twice. Once to have a Slinger and another for lunch. That hotel is lovely but it's not within walking distance to anything really.

Singapore is really nice. Enjoy!!

Stopped off at the York for 3 days to show the 3 teenage kids around Singapore. We had 2 rooms on the same floor. Rooms were large, clean, with nice firm beds. 1 room not ready upon arrival - so we were given free drink voucher. Reception staff very professional and helpful when we needed medical assistance for 1 teenager. We ate in the restaurant 2 nights and found the meals to be fine and not expensive.
Breakfast buffet was good.

My girlfriend and i ended up staying here by mistake, it was the best mistake we have ever made. The York was a 'gem' right in the heart of the shopping on orchard road (handy for xmas prezzies).
Spacious and very clean, fast enough check-in and the breakfast was plenty and varied to cater for most. We also found the 'infamous' hard beds very comfortable (maybe they have changed them???)
As a stopover hotel we found it perfect for our needs and when we go back to discover singapore a bit more (we only had 36 hours) would certainly stay there again.
If i had any complaint (sorry) but the receptionist could relax a bit more, smile and look as though they enjoy it. After a 13 hour flight it's not much to ask, go on girls you can do it.
Otherwise, a very good place to lie your head for a while!!!!!!!
