Hotels are expensive in Singapore, so we had no high hopes for our $Sing 150 ++ triple room at Hotel Asia - and they weren't dashed.

The location is great with a short walk to Newton MRT station, and plentiful taxis going past. The room was clean if tired, smallish and dark, and a little crowded with 3 adults The breakfast was filling, but cold with cold tea. We checked in at 3am and were warmly welcomed, and found the staff consistently helpful. It's nice to have tea making facilities in the room, and the free daily paper is a nice little touch.

We used Singapore as a base to go off to Cambodia and Malaysia, and we were very grateful to Hotel Asia for looking after our unwanted bags as we came and went.

Altogether we got what we expected and have no complaints about a prefectly reasonable hotel.

This hotel is located minutes from the Newton MRT subway station and bus stops. It is a good 10 minute walk to Orchard Road.
Room was clean, comfortable and quiet. Chinese restaurant available. Good choice breakfast buffet. Taxi's easy to get.

We picked Hotel Asia for its location and was not disappointed. The hotel's located just a few mins' walk to the Newton MRT train stn and a leisurely 10-mins' walk to Orchard Road. Further up the road - opposite side, less than 10-mins' walk - is the famous Newton Circus Food Centre (open till very early in the morning). Or you can also take the train (to Novena, one stop away) to United Square for the food centre, eateries and shops.

The hotel cafe's breakfast spread is good and value for money (only SGD11). They also have a Chinese restaurant (which we didn't try although it looked so good).

Good: Our room faced the back garden; it was quiet and very clean (no bugs, mites or ants). Everything was in good condition (e.g., airconditioning, hot water, lights, TV, coffee/tea making facilities, safe). The front reception staff were very friendly and helpful. The hotel provides internet access (wireless broadband in the rooms, cafe and other spots). And if you're planning a trip to nearby Malaysia, the Airebus ticket counter's conveniently located next to the front reception. (The coach departs from the hotel.)

Not so good: The lighting could be brighter and the room a little bigger and more cheerful.

it's rated a 2 star and what u get is a 2 star. i stayed for 2 days.
Good: Since it's not on orchard road (it's about a good 10 minute walk to orchard road) it's not as expensive as the hotels on orchard road. It is also about a 5 minute walk to the MRT (aka subway) which is very convenient. The staff was quite friendly and helpful. The included breakfast was quite good, a larger selection than the normal hotel, with a mix of western and eastern food. Air condiotning worked properly thank goodness. ALso has an in room safe.
Bad: The room was small, stains noticeable on the carpet and furniture.
Very Bad: On our last night i noticed some small ants in the bathroom, then on my bed....ewwwwwwwww...

p.s. the MRT is connected to the airport, therefore very easy and cheap to get to the city area. forget about the airport shuttles and taxi if you want to save some $$$
