“A Great Adventure”

Having checked in at our hotel in the early part of the morning, we looked for our driver from Alpha tours, and found that he had ditched us......and we could not book any tours with them. As Arabian Adventures were in the hotel, we decided to book the "Sundowner" with them, much to our delight. we got our moneys worth from beginning to end. The representative at the hotel (Pearl Residence) was ,most helpful, and a real pleasure to deal with. Our tour was booked for 9/01/2008, and she informed us that our guide would pick us up at 2.50pm.

We were very impressed with the timekeeping as our guide. Wajid was punctual, and we did not have to wait at all. Having sorted out the seating arrangements, as our group consisted of 3 people, and we had to share with another 3 people, he introduced himself to us. He was a pleasant and charming young man who delighted us with his sense of humour. On route to the desert, he further impressed us with his knowledge of local attractions as he pointed them out to us. We stopped for a short break, and then proceeded with the "dune bashing". All i can say is wow!! Wajid handled the vehicle with considerable ease, and made our experience something to remember.

We took some wonderful photos, including the the stop at the camel farm, (just mind the smell) and the most magnificient sunset. It was freezing cold though, and Wajid, so kindly offered his jacket to my mum, and ended up being cold the entire evening.

As darkness fell, we were taken to the Arabian Camp where we enjoyed a variety of foods and drinks, and were further entertained with camel rides and an exotic belly dancing show.

The night ended with all the lights being turned off, and we were able to do some stargazing, much to our delight, as living in a city, we do not get to enjoy the beauty of nature.

Wajid, our safari guide, once again entertained and answered our silly questions on the way back to the hotel. The trip ended with him dropping us off at our hotel at 9.30pm.

All in all it was a fantastic experience to say the least. We were happy with the whole "Arabian Adventure" experience and thank Alpha Tours for just dropping us off at the hotel and disappearing into the night!

i definitely recomend this tour, and be sure to ask for Wajid, as he will surely make your experience a memorable one!!!

Although we reserved on-line two places on the desert safari 'Sundowners' tour before we left for Dubai, choosing the option to pay once we were had arrived, when we arrived, this was not registered at all (despite viewing a website confirmation). Therefore we went to one of their many offices in person on the morning of the tour and booked for the evening. The tour commenced at 3pm, with prompt driver pick-up from our hotel. The 4x4 was modern and clean. The riding over the dunes was enjoyable and felt safe, with the driver seeming in control. There were many other jeeps from the company doing the tour at the same time. When we arrived at the camp, the dinner provided was generous and adequate, with unlimited soft drinks and alcohol. There was ample entertainment, including camel riding, a belly dancer, henna tatoos and shisha under the stars. All in all great value for money, and well organised. One of the highlights of our trip.

“Best thing to do in Dubai”

The desert safari is one of the best tours I have been on!! We were picked up from our hotel by a friendly driver in an airconditioned 4WD, taken on a personal tour around parts of Dubai while we waited for the other guests riding with us, and the driven out to the desert.

The safari part was fantastic, a real adrenaline rush. Then we had camel rides, henna tattoos, shisha, arabian coffee, three course delicious meal, belly dancers and more. The value is great, and the atmosphere was fantastic.

Who would have thought that such an elaborate arabian camp would be in the middle of the desert! And with hotel quality flushing toilets!

“Beautiful Views, but tour guide could do better.”

Arabian Adventures

I wouldn't take Arabian tours again.
I thought that for the extra money I'm paying I would get a much better service, but I didn't.

Our group consisted of our tour guide, a new zealander with his russian wife and son (really nice people), and a german couple.

Basically:

- The tour cars they use are GMC's and not Camry's. The GMC cars have flatter front windshields and there more a more limited view of things. Also they feel more cramped.

- The tour guide kept me a bit on the edge. He had this forced sense of humour and made you feel you should pay attention to him or else, kinda like a teacher. We sometimes gave a light laugh at his "jokes". You could sense he was edgy and I'm not sure whether he's always like that or it was just one of those days (apparently he was fasting). He also kinda pretended he understood what we said when sometimes he didn't. One time I asked "sorry, could you please take a picture for me?" and he responded "don't call me sir. even people i train dont call me that. call my name". His name is Latif by the way, in case you wonder.
Although later he chatted me up like there were no hard feelings, i could just constantly feel like the guy was on the edge or something. I felt afraid to ask him to stop near a nice spot to take a quick picture or just ask him to take some pictures of me in general.

But anyway, the above didn't bother me that much. What did get on my nerves in the end was when we were coming back. We passed the hotel where I was picked up from because the tour guide said they in a hurry and need to drop off the other guest first (it seems that although the hotel was in plain sight apparently it would be more complicated to get to it). Ok, no problem because I wanted to go the open beach anyway. So the tour guide said he would drop me near the reception at the end and I can just get a taxi from there. I was ok with that as well.

After Latif (tour guide) dropped everyone off, he took me to some little hotel or something and got me a taxi. The taxi he got me was a silver one. Now in case you didn't know, dubai has a couple of taxi companies operating. I think you get the standard taxi companies who charge the normal fare (which is quite cheap) and then you get the silver taxi's which charge double.
I didn't want to spend extra cash just to get a 10 minute ride to the beach so I asked the guide whether this isn't but any chance the taxi that costs double. He told me not to worry, that it was a government taxi and they charge the same fare as all the other taxis. Well I took the taxi, and guess what...I got charged double.

So overall: Nice tour, but tour guide would be better if he relaxed, was more laid-back and provided a more honest service. And get cars with bigger wind-shields and a roof window.
Like some of the other members commented: you can get better and cheaper tours in dubai elsewhere.

Thanks for reading.
