“No problems”

After reading some of the other reviews, I was a bit nervous about staying here. We didn't have any of the problems that others did.
Front desk people were fast and courteous. We even had an ocean front view. Room was clean and well maintained.
We didn't park in the garage, instead we parked down the block at the Sand's parking garage. Much cheaper then the lot across the street.

I would return to this hotel.

Great location just steps to boardwalk,Dunkin donuts downstairs was nice.Took my son swimming in the rooftop pool,it was clean, warm but smaller than your normal pool.Parking is a problem (or added expense) if you drive a suv as I do.No suvs in garage so you must pay to park across the street. It cost me $25.00 for 2 weekend nights. The lot is guarded and well lit however. The renaissance no longer reimburses for parking there. The room was clean, stocked well and as described in ad.Bathtub powerjets did not work however,no other major problems,Staff was nice and helpful,I would return if the price is right!

“A True Joke of a Hotel”

This dump makes a great story, but the actual experience was the pits. We had traded it for a luxurious time-share in Hilton head.

It's in a bad neighborhood, with check cashing places and tattoo parlors, a tacky lobby with rows of coke and candy machines.

There was a crowded, chained-closed garage, with, of all things, a car elevator to get your car to a second or third parking level. we spent about 20 minutes just figuring how to getinto the place - first out how to get into the garage, then discovering the car elevator (not mentioned by the front dexk gyg) then how to operate the car elevator (a new experience!) which would close, then open again, for no reason. Lots of side-splitting laughs in the process.

The suite was very basic. The dresser drawers were rikety and the toilet needed two flushes every time. The kitchen had a corkscrew, Thank God, because we really needed a drink, It also had a huge rack of knives, for duels, perhaps, or to take yourself out of your agony.

We had a partial ocean view, through dirty windows.

We read a bad review of the hotel on another website, about people vomiting out the windows, with management being unresponsive, but figured that was an anomoly.

Trust me and save yourself the anguish -- or maybe you'd like to have a good story to tell too.

“Adjacent Tenants Noisy and Vomiting Off Patio - Management did nothing”

We stayed at La Renaissance in March 2006. Jets in "jacuzzi" tub didn't work. Car elevator must be shut on all floors in order to work. We had to walk from floor 3 to floor 1, shut the door manually, walk back to floor 3 and then ride elevator down to ground floor. This happened from 1st floor to 3rd floor as well, several times. A very noisy group in the next Penthouse were causing such commotion that our bed physically moved from the wall. The tenants were obviously partying and were vomiting from the balcony. This went on all night. We were forced to move our mattress and bedding into the living room area to sleep. Management did nothing to compensate us for our inconvenience saying that when they checked the room out THE NEXT DAY, everything seemed Ok with the room. They cared only about the condition of the room and not the comfort of their clients. We will never stay here again. Several calls to management were never returned. Terrible Customer Service.

“Great location, property needs a facelift”

The location is the best thing going for this property. It is situated right on the boardwalk closest to the Sands casino, but not a bad walk to Ballys, Caesars or the other direction to Resorts, Taj, and Showboat. We had an ocean view room. We stayed very cheaply because of an off season rate through our Timeshare contact Interval International.

The downside to this property is that it is very dated. The furniture is old and not in the best shape. It was nice having a fully stocked kitchen area in the suite to save a little money by eating a few meals there instead of always eating out. The advertised jaccuzi in every suite is a joke because it is a regular shower/tub with 4 jets in it. If you are taller then 5 feet there is no way that you could sit in this tub under water. They did have a nice but small pool/hot tub on the top floor with incredible views of the beach and boardwalk. So I would reccomend this place to a couple looking for an inexpensive getaway that is looking for a place to stay on the boardwalk but is not looking for anything fancy. If you are looking for fancy then avoid this place and check out some of the higher end casinos. The property is secure and you need a swipe key to enter both the building and the garage. If you are planning on driving, be advised to use the smallest vehicle you have access to. The parking garage is very tight and SUVs, trucks and vans cannot enter and will have to pay for parking across the street at a pay lot. Overall it was an average property with an above average location. If they sunk some money into remodling and bringing in some new furniture then it would be ranked a lot higher. However there were no major flaws with anything that we saw other than the jaccuzzi just actually being a shower.
