“holiday inn style accomodation at four seasons prices”

Hotel Solymar

May 17, 2008

The views are spectacular, the rooms are clean and the staff friendly....but this hotel is very overpriced at $195 per night. the rooms are simple and comfortable, but not worthy of the price given no clock, no tv, no fluffy towels, robes, etc.

the biggest complaint we had was that music blares in the pool area, where every room faces, from around 9am to 10pm and it is not possible to enjoy the sound of the sea. also, the top floors have a loud drumming noise from the boiler that happens between 6am and 9pm. makes it hard to have good siestas or sleep ins.

“Very Clean and Tidy Hotel”

Hotel Solymar

The hotel is very clean and cozy; no bugs, excellent staff. The rooms had good a/c, great view, complimentary wireless internet, complimentary breakfast; no TV which is a plus. The view was excellent, lots of iguanas, seals, crabs and blue footies. The pool was inviting, but it has salt water, would have been nice if it was fresh water but we understand that this is a problem on the island.

  • This TripAdvisor Member:
    • Liked — The rooms were very clean and the a/c was very cool.
    • Disliked — The salt water in the pool.

Hotel Solymar

stayed here for a couple of nights, loved it.
the place is clean, relaxed, staff are friendly and willing to help in any awy possible, good water views from your rooms.
we loved the wild pelicans, iguanas, herons, crabs and sealions that just visited as they pleased, as you lazed around the pool or spa.
we went for a swim in the sea at the back of the hotel. just amazing fun.
food was great also.

“Coming Back Soon!”

Hotel Solymar

We were looking forward to the Galapagos Islands. We ended up having a wonderful time at the hotel Solymar ! The view from the upper corner room we had was spectacular! Renalto gives a show each week throwing fish to the birds, sea lions, herons, and the other 60 or so guests that arrive from the island and sea. The breakfast turns into a show as you eat and look out at sea lions and birds having their own breakfast in the water right outside the restaurant.
Ths staff are very accomadating trying as hard as possible to help in any way. We sometimes had food that was different from the menu and it was fantastic! We often traveled back across the island just to eat at the hotel.
You can pay less to stay inland away from the water, but after spending $1,000 a couple to just land on Santa Cruz island with airfare and entry fee, you will make a big mistake not to stay at the best place on the island given location, food and friendliness.
