We returned from the Renaissance last week. We had a great time, lots of sun and swimming. We had a room overlooking the sea, booking a seaview deluxe. I was expecting a king size double bed, but received twin beds and was told that there were no double beds available. The room however was a good size and and extra bed was added for our son and there was still a fair amount of room to move about.
Overall I had no complaints about our stay. The complimentary water in the room did not materialise, and when we requested a bottle we had to pay. Our mini bar did not contain anything at all, which was fine as we used it for our own drinks purchased outside the hotel.
We tried all of the restaurants during our stay. The mexican being favourite, although the food was great in the Italian also. Breakfast gave you a really good choice and all the food was an excellent standard.
The steps are hard work to get around the resort, but we knew this prior to booking so could not be a complaint. We came across very few Russians and so there was no problem there at all, even though it has been commented on by other travellers.
We found all the staff pleasant and helpful. No problems getting a sunbed, and once you have tipped the pool staff, they would make sure that your sunbed was there for the following day. We spent most of our time at the Aqua pool, and our sunglasses were cleaned daily and we had the benefit of an iced flannel mid morning to cool ourselves down.
We were asked about booking boats trips and also had to fend off the massage men but it wasnt everyday and really weren't a problem.
For me Naam Bay was Blackpool in Egypt and we only went there the one night, maybe that was because of the terror ride we had in a taxi returning to the resort!! Don't pay any more that 40 egyptian pounds.
Would I book to go again. Probably not........... but that wasn't because of the hotel, purely that I don't agree that it has the best snorkeling and diving in the world. Yes there are many lovely fish there, but I found the Maldives far superior.

Any questions feel free to email me.

“Nice hotel”

Just came back from a 7 night stay at this resort. Although the hotel was great it lacked the "wow" factor for me. Don't get me wrong, the lobby is plush, the view from the rooms are amazing, the hotel grounds are well maintained.... but it was missing a certain something.

Well lets start with the plus side. The reef that the hotel creeps up to is great. A floating pontoon extends 30m out to where the shallows drops off and where a relatively well kept reef begins. Impressive to new snorkellers but doesn't compare to Ras Mohammed National Park or Shark Bay for that matter. Sure there isn't a white sandy shoreline, but for the sun lovers there are plenty of sun beds an umbrellas laid out along the elevated man made sun bathing areas.

The rooms are a decent size and have incredible views of Tiran Island to the east. Hotel has 3 main swimming pools spaced across the resort, one with a swim up bar with great burgers and cocktaisl! At night there is live belly dancing and whirling dervishes shows, which attract a modest crowd. Cuisine is good, but doesn't exceed Egyptian 5 star expectations.

Now the negatives. For me, the hotel has too many steps. It's a huge resort and getting from one end to the other can be painstaking in the heat. Service is also not up to scratch. Often takes quite some time for requests to be fulfilled. Staff at the pool area/bars are also not very helpful at all.

The pools in this resort are quite average. I've seen some beautiful resort pools and unfortunately it wasn't up there (no waterfalls, fountains, slides etc). In saying that, it's clean, well maintained and relatively large, with plenty of kiddy areas.

Overall, if i were to rate it out of ten, I would give it a 6-7, in comparison to other Eygptian 5 star resorts. Nice hotel, but not wow like the Oberoi Hurghada, Sharm Intercontintental or Grand Hyatt.

But when it comes down to it, cheap internet rates means that this place is great value for money!

“No risk staying here”

Renaissance Golden View Beach Resort Sharm El Sheikh

Stayed here for a week with my Mum (i'm 38, she 63) wanted a chill out week with guaranteed sun alongside a bit of luxury. we got everything we wanted, like many folks i read reviews on trip advisor regarding this hotel and you cant go wrong staying here.

upon arrival you have too go through security check prior to entering the hotel at first we were a bit shocked by this but by the end of our stay didn't faze us. check in wasn't as smooth as it should have been, prob due to our arrival time; early hours of the morning. we were taken to our room in a golf buggy and our cases were brought to us within the hour.

we booked a delux see view twin room on a BB basis, it had a fab sea view, two large queen beds, nice furniture and luxurious bedding. large bathroom with walk in shower and bath. good sized wardrobe space and plenty of drawers. internet access, tv, telephone, hairdryer, free safe, mini bar are all in the room.

The hotel is really lovely, in a wonderful spot out of town but within easy access by taxi from Nama Bay. the hotel also runs a bus, twice nightly for 10 egyptian pounds each way (£2 return) there is a smaller shopping area around 10 minutes walk away which is more then adequate for any body needing to purchase tacky pressies!

we mainly ate at the hotel. Breakfast was lovely with a array of choice and i would be amazed if you couldn't find something you liked. There is a Omlette station where you can have fresly cooked omlette, Waffle Station, pastries, cereal, fruit, continental type breakfast items, along with typical english breakfast items. 4 different types of fresh juice as well as T and Coffee. This was our first visit to Egypt and i was shocked by the food as it was so nice, even the milk was just like home!

we visited their in house Italian restaurant, again the food was lovely and plentyfull. we ate other meals throughout the week at the hotel, one evening visiting their themed buffet, again everything was freshly cooked to order with a great choice of items. Lunch times there are four different places to eat, any thing you order will be cooked fresh and the portions were hugh, we learnt to order one meal and share (were not tight just so much food for one person)

If you stay at this hotel you will not be disappointed.........the most memoriable thing you will return with is the level of service you will receive. i have never experienced anything like it, from the pool boy who puts your towels on your sun bed and then cleans your sunglasses to the room service waiters whom i sure if you asked would spoon feed you lol whatever their job role is they will bend over backwards to assist and serve you. i have read reviews from other hotels stating have to heavily tip waiters and pool boys to get service this is so not the case at this hotel! another bonus was very few Russians.

My only one grip is......on our last night we were woken up at 01.30 by a PA system and very very loud dance music. we looked out of our balcony and too the right of the hotel is a castle like structure with marquee's which once a weeks holds an outside disco! at the moment it is once a week but from the amount of people and the noise coming from the site it is obviously a very popular event and i struggle to see how they will keep it to a once a week event! we did complain and were offered an alternative room, the following morning the manager came to speak to us and did say that the local authority are aware of their distain for this event but who knows........hopefully this will only be a once a week event because if it was a nightly one it woul totally distroy this hotel. my only other negative comment is we were there from 28th May 2008 for one week and we noticed the number of guest seemed to double from the last two days, i certainly wouldn't want to be there at full capacity, the begining of our week we were told they were at around 70% which for me was perfect, never struggled for a sunbed, no que for breakfast etc but like i said the last two days we did start to notice an increase in guest and as such pool and restaurant a lot busy and not as peaceful.
please dont let the above put you off staying here, i will certainly re-book to go to this hotel, i will just not go later then end of may and i would ask for a room on the other side of the hotel. Oh and if you are not very fit you will be upon your return there are steps everywhere you go throughout this complex.......enjoy x

All i can say is the place was excellent, hotel was a nice location, clean. nothing bad to say .All i would say is think twice about cairo trip, its overrated. If you want to see the pyramids then good luck, just avoid when too hot! Also if you go dont go cheap and do the bus to cairo, its long and knackering according to a friend, we flew andit was easier!

“Great Hotel, excellent service”

Renaissance Golden View Beach Resort Sharm El Sheikh

We have just returned from a week at the Renaissance Golden View at Sharm el Sheikh. The hotel is very good and we have never experienced such incredible service before. It was so lovely that there was a man to clean your sun glasses when you go to the pool or to the beach.
This is a big hotel with many buldings of 2 floors, with 2 swimming pools for adults and 2 for children. The food was very good, a continental breakfast and every night the dinner was different, we tried the Mexican night, the italian night and the marrocos night, very good!!!
The rooms are very clean and the service room was extremelly careful with our things.
The best of the hotel is without doubt the beach and the excellent service they offer. As for the hotel beach the motto is: "Discover the Reef " and in fact every time you dive in that water at 28 degrees, you can see fish of all species and color, is wonderfull!
As for the service, there is a great concern to keep the customers happy and everything is done to please, from the doorman to the employee of the restaurant, are all very friendly.
The only thing less positive is the amount of stairs that we have to get off to go to the beach because the hotel is on a slope and the beach is at the end of the slope. But if we consider what we eat, the exercise does very well!
A council if you want to go to this hotel do not forget to take fins, goggles, diving and a camera to take pictures in the water. The best period to go is between April and June.
We are keen to return!
