Not to be confused with the Concord Sport which is opposite the Main Road, not facing the sea, we stayed in Concord Main.
First impression of this hotel was very good. Layout looked great especially the sea view from the rear of hotel balconies and if you were lucky enough to have a room facing the sea ( we were not) you had stunning views The main pool also looked out to sea. The beach however is hardly anything to write about, and you will be well dissapointed if you think you are getting a soft sandy beach. It is very small and pebbly, but has plenty of sun beds and a beach bar.
Staff very obliging, especially if you tip well. Generally we found all areas were pretty clean. Pools and surrounding areas kept clean and tidy. Gardens very well maintained. Buffet dining area food was kept fresh and replenished all meal times. Fresh Pasta’s and Pizza made to order at lunch and dinner. Good variation of food on offer from salads to roast joints and curries. Deserts usually consisted of cakes, custard dishes and fruit but well presented. Rooms air conditioned, and clean. Bed linen and towels changed each day. Fun seeing what the cleaner had fashioned from just a couple of towels when arriving back each day. We had crocodiles, flowers and even a man sitting on the chair reading a book (can you believe)
Before our holiday I read many reports on trip advisor about Russians at this hotel and as many have said before, yes dress sense sometimes leave a lot to be desired. No one mentioned the dancing though. While we were there the best entertainment during our stay was watching from the balcony the dancing and may I say not JUST the Russians though they loved it and danced to any kind of music that came on. There was entertainment every night, though not that brilliant in our view.
Very surprised seeing main bar, considering the size of hotel. When the main pool closes there is just this one small bar, (piano bar) in the whole hotel, to purchase your own drinks. Of course waiter service was available throughout the hotel, unfortunately, because the waiters are kept so busy you could wait up to 20 minutes for a single drink, it took quite some time to get the waiters attention Trick was to order well in advance of actually wanting a drink. Curfew for all inclusive drinks. 11:30 pm then you have to pay. This is when you really have to think ahead if you want to drink after 11:30 deadline. As well as the drinking deadline, there are some other petty niggling things at the Concord Main as far as all inclusive is concerned. When you arrive in your room you are provided with a bottle of water. Use this and you do not get a replacement unless you pay. Word to the wise, go to supermarket for your water, costs three time the price at hotel to replace. On one occasion we wanted can of coke by the pool and was informed if we wanted a can we would have to pay,£18.00 Egyptian ( approx £1.80) though they would open a bottle of coke and pour you one in a plastic cup for free doh!! Same applied with the beer and water. We went to Supermarket and got Bottle of water and large bottle of coke for less than one can of coke at hotel. There is a fridge in the room but if you want this stocking up you have to pay. If you want delivery of food to room, pay. At the end of our stay we kept the room on for extra 5 hours costing £40.00 – we handed room key over at 5.00 pm. Went straight to bar to get a final drink before departure and was informed that all inclusive finishes at 3:00 pm on last day of holiday, regardless of keeping you room on. Obviously we went to supermarket to purchase our last drinks before leaving hotel for airport.
The area in Sharks Bay where the Concord is just mainly consists of hotels. If you want to escape your hotel complex then you have to get either the hotel courtesy bus to Nama Bay ( 15 minutes away) or a taxi. We only did this once we didn’t like Nama very much, but that is our own taste. Many people thought it was great, hustle and bustle of the town. A lot of the younger generation went to the Hard Rock Café there and said it was fun. Of course the highlight of our trip was to Cairo. It was really good, made even better by the brilliant guide we had. I would recommend this if you have never been before. We flew from Sharm to Cairo, only took 1 hour, but be warned it is a very early start, understandable given the busy schedule. Our guide was not only very informative throughout our cultural visit but also warned us about the big problem they have with people hassling you to buy cheap trinkets or beggars asking for money. Word is DON’T DO IT. At the end of the visit we went back to our hotel tired but exciting and the days events.
One down side during our holiday was many people experienced tummy problems at sometime during their stay, including us. Not only in our hotel, but many people we spoke to suffered at some point Nothing to do with the food I just think the heat and drinking cold drinks change of diet has to take its toll to us who are not used to this kind of extremes. On the whole we had a really good holiday, plenty of fun with a little group we got friendly with by the pool. Would we go to again ? Not for a long time I Having done all inclusive much better before and I think this hotel has some issues that need addressing.
