“Absoutely Rubbish.. Please Don't Go There”

Sol Sharm

i just got back from sol sharm and have to say it is the worst hotel ever. first of all, the location is really bad as it is in the middle of nowhere. Please dont be fooled by ur travel agents if they say its beach front coz its not that near. it is a very long walk to the beach or u can take a bus from the hotel. they may also tell u that its near to local restaurants and shopping centres when in fact it is very far from all the night life and shopping places. as it is situated in an isolated desert it is very hard to find a taxi which then results in u having to take the hotel taxi's in sky high prices.

Most of the reception staff are quite rude and very unhelpful. they are always trying to extract money from u for every little thing. i cant believe this hotel is rated as a four star hotel as it should be no more than 2 star. they seriously need to be reviewed again.

the food was ok but very repetitve so we ended up eating outside most of the time. The bedroom is clean, spacious and tidy but we had a few problems with lizards and cockroaches on a daily basis and when complaining to the staff, they told us its not a big deal so u can imagine our level of dissapointment with this hotel.

one more thing i must inform you is that when checking in to the hotel PLEASE check that u are provided with a "towel card" and keep it safe as u will be charged 50 egyptian pounds if u dont return it when checkin out. they tend to forget to mention about this so called towel card and its charges upon arrival so when its time to leave they extract the money from you very cleverly.

i just dont understand how this hotel is a 4star, please please please reconsider this hotel before booking. im not writing this review because i feel i have a grudge with the hotel or the food was crap, i am writing an honest review so i can help u guys make the right decision as travel agents dont always say the truth. please reconsider this hotel and try booking elsewhere so u can have a great expereince rather than facing only dissapointments like me.

if u have any other questions, please feel free to ask.

“Absolutely Fantastic!”

Quick summary: Good sunshine, clean rooms, friendlly staff, average food , lovely sea and good diving.

Just got home from Sharm yesterday, throughly enjoyed our stay, we went as a family of 4. After we booked the hotel... like most read the reviews and were a little worried about what we were coming to. From the airport the hotel is about 15 minutes away but within viewing distance ( eygptian roads are strange). On arrival our bags were carefully seen to by the concierge and taken to our rooms. The rooms were spaceous, very clean and the air conditioning was fantastic! If you like sitting on your balcony i advise you to ask for a pool/sea view balcony because one of ours over looked the 'gardens' and was just looking over a sandy field with a couple of porto-cabins. During the day there is not alot to do, shuttle buses to Naama Bay and Old Sharm and also taxis can be booked in the lobby, however there is 3 swimming pools, 2 are on the hotel site and 1 on the hotels private beach site. The private beach is a 5 min tops walk between the pool and beach but there is a bus that runs all day to shuttle you between the two. There is a diving hut and bar down at the beach also with sunbeds on the beach but not over crowded. The sea is clear and lovely to swim in, even better to snorkel with 2 jetties perfect for a breezy sunbathe. Whilst we were there the weather was sunny all the time with no cloud but with a slight breeze, without this i think the heat would be unbareable! There is activities throughout the day at both the beach and pool like aerobics and dancing lessons, the activity team'animation' run these and do come round nagging you to join in but in a friendly way and just want you to join in! The staff in general are all ever so friendly and would go out of the way to help you- especially towards the end! ha. The bar upstairs is all inclusive for beer and local spirits plus soft drinks, however the local spirits are not much cop! Only fault with the drinks is they arent icy cold all the time and the wine is only inclusive with your meal. The meals and food are average, when i went there was only a chose of 1 restaurant at any one point, there was plentty of food to chose from however it was in buffet form, the pasta bar was great though! After your meal there is evening entertainment at the outdoor theatre, these are generally a good laugh and last about an hour, after that there is the disco which was never that busy when i went down and the bar is not all inclusive. Thought i would just add that there is a healthspa at the hotel which does henna tattoos, however i will not go into details but i do not advice you to go alone to have one. Overall id say the hotel was clean, friendly, great for sunshine and a relaxation holiday not good if you want a lively party holiday or for young children.

“AMAZING!!!!..Enough Said!”

Sol Sharm

I stayed at The Sol Sharm from May 12th to the 26th! Like most people I read the reviews before I went and was a little scared by the few reviews that moaned about a lot of things that makes a holiday a holiday but let me tell you now... DONT BELIEVE ANYTHING NEGATIVE about this resort.
I'm 21, I went with two other 21 year olds and while we were over there we met a group of gals and guys ranging from age 19 to 53. Not one of us wanted to leave...it really does appeal to all ages. The rooms are cleaned daily and have all the amenities you need in an all inclusive resort, the pool is beautiful and clean, staff
are friendly and helpful, the entertainment is the best I have experienced on a holiday so far, there are lots of things to get involved with everyday such as belly dancing, darts, water aerobics, yoga, latino dancing, aerobics and table tennis (Amongst others!) Sun loungers are free and every morning a lovely guy will bring you round cushioning just to make it that little bit more comfortable, drinks and snacks are available at all times of the day and I really cant see how people could complain about the food because theres such a vast choice everyday!!... for breakfast theres cereal, omlettes, scrambled egg, boiled egg, beans, tomato, sausage, salad, croissants, pastries, bread, oriental breakfast, fuits, yogurts... and for lunch/dinner theres Pasta dishes, rice dishes, bread, fresh salad, omlettes, meats, fish, a range of vegetables, lots of sauces, lots of yummy desserts...I really dont see what else they could offer!
Can i also say that I know that people have written about the hassle that they have recieved from the locals but it really isn't that bad if you just act normal. I went shopping, went into Nama Bay and walked around the resort at all hours alone. I'm a 21 year old, blonde female...yes I did get stopped, yes I did get told I was beautiful and yada yada yada...BUT they are only trying to be nice. They don't mean any harm and if your pleasant to them and just say hello and when you want to leave say goodbye then they honor that. I hated seeing people just ignoring them!!!
As you tell, I had an AMAZING time. If I wrote about everything that I loved about it then I really would be here all day but please just don't worry about anything...just go and experience it yourself and I have no doubt you'll write a 10 out of 10 review. I'm planning to go back at xmas so may see you there. hehe.

If I have one last bit of advice for people staying at the Sol Sharm it would be to make a good connection with the animation/entertainment team. Salah (x2), Mamadoo, Sayed, Bob and Olga are such great people and they really do try their best to enliven everybodys holiday. If you want to make the most of your holiday and really have a giggle then get involved as much as you can. They're such talented people, have such high spirits and I guarantee they'll make an impression on you! A massive thank you to all of them!
