“The best hot springs in Arenal”

Living in Costa Rica I have been to Arenal many times and have seen the droves of tourists lined up to get into the "other" hot springs in the area. This really had turned me off to ever going BUT after reading all of the positive reviews here about Eco Thermales we decided to go. It was worth it, not only was the food excellent (we went in the evening/dinner session but the whole event was laid back (especially with the honor system bar). This is what I wanted from a hot spring experience. My only added "two cents" for those who may go as well, is that the entrance is simply two huge gate doors and a small security microphone box which you must ring with your reservation name in order to be let in - don't look for a huge sign or arrows as you won't find them. This was perfect for us though as it meant no one was going to stumble upon it, and reservations were enforced.

“What a wonderful time...once we got there”

This was a great way to end a day of adventure. We visited the springs in on December 12, 2007. The hot springs are well maintained and very clean. The atmosphere is relaxing and the water very refreshing. The staff was so helpful and very kind. The food was very good and the pricing for everything was fair.

The best part was of course the hot springs! Each pool went down in temperature and the bar was just off the spring. The pool was large and it never felt cramped or busy. It almost had a secret hide-away feeling.

Although the springs were wonderful, getting there is another story. We stayed at Hotel Silencio del Campo and were told we could walk there. It was just after dark and without a vehicle we were able to walk there, but there a not markings to find the spring (it is across the street from Baldi). We also did not have a flashlight and the 1/4 mile walk in the dark was very unnerving! The staff was kind enough to drive us back, but definitely take a taxi or vehicle to get there.

Despite this, I still rate it an excellent experience and would definitely go there again. AN EXCELLENT VALUE!

“Ah...a great way to relax after our day!”

After a long day, it was quite a treat to "soak" in the thermals.
The ambience of the place, being smaller, quiet, and drinks on the honor system. I appreciate Silencio del Campo making this wonderful suggestion!

“Best Hot Springs in the area”

We visited Eco Termales in September of 2006. We absolutely LOVED them. We had heard bad reviews about Tabacon being overpriced, so we asked our hotel for a recommendation (we stayed at Volcano Lodge) and they pointed us here. We were there in low season, so there was hardly anyone there. Very relaxing, and the drinks were yummy and reasonably priced. No view of the volcano, but a very tropical and relaxing setting. Would definitely recommend!

“relaxing”

It seems like the other posters have covered it all. We went to Eco Termales earlier this month and had a fantastic time there. Based on other reviews, we chose to skip the other two hot springs for something less commercial. We booked for the evening time slot and included dinner. It was a very relaxing time. It rained when we were there, but it just added to the ambiance. The food was good and the service was friendly. There were a couple loud groups of kids there but they kept themselves in the lower pool. The trip to the hot springs was a great way to end a day of hiking.
