We chose this hotel from travel guides and tripadvisor reviews. the hotel was very clean, very comfortable, nicely decorated, with adequate fitness room, great breakfast, marble bathrooms, bathrobes, in room safe, and wonderful staff. We speak very little Spanish, they spoke English and were very helpful, friendly and welcoming. Hotel is two streets from Florida Street and also walking distance from Puerto Madero, Plaza de Mayo, Plaza San Martin. We (two women aged 53 and 81) stayed 8 days. We would definitely go back. It was great. Full of tourists and business people from all over, but esp SA.
There are good restaurants close by -especially liked the restaurant in the Santa Catalina cloister (corner of San Martin and Viamonte - one block from hotel) where we ate lunch - a bit pricey for BA but beautifully presented and delicious, including wine - 68 pesos each. Jeweller one block away on viamonte towards Florida Street had beautiful contemporary silver pieces with semi-precious stones. Also used Eurotur, on viamonte where a very helpful agent booked a great two day package to Iguazu. Cheap cab ride to Recoletta,Palermo, San Telmo, La Boca etc. Free internet in lobby
Busy area during the day but not noisy in room. Very quiet on streets after 7 or 8 so we often walked out for dinner and took taxi back.
took city tour recommended by hotel which was good and reasonable. All hotel recommendations for tours, tango shows, restaurants were good except for Al Carbon about three blocks away which we did not like - could have been an off night but glass of champagne with hotel referal did not materialize, beef chewy (unusual for BA), service a bit snobby but otherwise nice ambiance and appeared to have a great wine list.
