Stayed here three nights in April, 2008. It was mostly a pleasant experience. Since it's a refurbished cotton factory it has a unique ambiance, different from most Hampton Inns. We paid $145/night, plus various taxes and overpriced parking (see below).
We had a large corner room with two double beds (wish they had been queen's) and a pull out sofa. This worked well for my wife and I and our two teenagers. Breakfast was the usual Hampton Inn fare, but it's included in the price, so acceptable. The bar and pool are small, but just fine. The workout room is a cut above most of these places in that it also includes free weights. A plus in my estimation.
This would be the perfect place to stay if attending a conference at the Conference Center. It's right next to it. But if you want to spend lots of time in the French Quarter, you may want to get a bit closer. Not that this hotel is far away, but after a big meal and some wine, the walk back to the hotel is just a bit far. And, I wouldn't want to walk it at night. Taxis ran us about $10 one way, including tip. Not too bad.
My only real gripe is the outrageous charge for parking: $30 (well, $27 + $3 tax). This is valet parking, but you really have little choice. You can park on the street (good luck) or they have a small parking lot behind the hotel. "It's not secured, though," they told me. I agreed to the valet parking without knowing the cost. Caveat Emptor!
And, BTW, I recommend the swamp tour.
