“A wonderful place for a honeymoon!”

We stayed here for a week for our honeymoon in October. When we were picking a hotel, we were debating between the Fairmont and Four Seasons and the Grand Wailea. Ultimately, we chose the Fairmont for a variety of reasons, some based on our friends' recommendations who have stayed at all three. What won us over was the fact that all of the rooms at the Fairmont were suites with a front sitting room and a separate bedroom. It was great to come back to our room at the end of a day at the beach or at the pool and relax in our room without having to jump into the bed.

The bathroom is GORGEOUS. I've seen New York apartments that could fit in there! It's wonderfully appointed and the soaps, etc are absolutely refreshing.

The service at the hotel is amazing. We were greeted with cool towels, juice and leis - tremendously relaxing and welcome after a long long flight! Everyone, from the room service and cleaning staff, to the bartenders and front desk staff, were amazing and friendly. They are SO good with honeymooners - everyone kept calling me Mrs. LastName - it was so fun.

The dining options at the hotel are also fantastic - pricey (but what isn't in Maui), but delicious. We spent one night just restaurant/bar hopping at the hotel and had a great evening.

The Fairmont beach is FANTASTIC - heads and shoulders above some of the others in Wailea, mostly because it is exclusive and doesn't get a lot of the public beach traffic that many of the other beaches have. It doesn't have some of the amenities as some of the others do (padded lounge chairs on the beach, guys with sunscreen greeting you before you hit the sand, etc) - but for the privacy, it's worth it. There is also great snorkling right off the beach and you can rent gear right from the hotel. We went out a few times.

Whatever option you choose, you are guaranteed to have a wonderful time in Maui!

“wouldn't stay anywhere else!!!!”

my husband and i booked our trip throught costco and got a really great deal. about 3 days after i booked it costco called to tell us that the adult pool was going to be closed for resurfacing. i was a bit peeved as this was our belated honeymoon and the adult pool was a plus. i called the fairmont directly and spoke to a manager and he was awesome. he upgraded us from ocean view to deluxe ocean view. this was just the start to the incredible service we were treated to.

upon arrival we were greated with juice and cold towels. the open air lobby was a siht for sore eyes looking out onto the beautiful grounds and clear blue ocean. everyone working there was so friendly starting with the bellman who brought our bags to the room. the manager who we had spoke to several times before arrival had champagne and chocolate covered strawberries waiting for us in our very clean and inviting suite with an amazing view from everywhere in the room. the bed and pillows were absolutely comfy. the bathroom was sper roomy, with double pedstal sinks and a huge open walk in shower. every suite has an expansive lanai.

so even though the adult pool was closed the other pool was lovely. polo beach was private and terrific. the lobby bar was great for sunset watching. i think we lucked out and the hotel was only about half full so it seemed we were almost doted on. our waitress at the excellent buffet breakfast remembered our name after the first day. the alhoa spirit was all over this place.

it is not cheap but we went and looked at the four seasons, grand wailea and the big hotels in kaanapali and for the money i wouldn't stay anywere else. it was magical and truly hard to leave.

“Loved the Kea Lani”

We first visited the Kea Lani back in 2005 for a friend's wedding and the grounds are absolutely beautiful.

I'm not sure what some of the dissatisfied customers are talking about, but perhaps since we went during off-season this time around (i.e. NOT spring break), we didn't feel like the resort was crowded or that the staff was unhelpful at all.

We loved our suite (all the rooms in the hotel are suites) and we felt right at home w/the living area, separate bedroom, and exquisite bath.

There are several pools on location; we usually swam in the mixed pool since there was a swim-up bar (excellent food) and television.

The Fairmont also has a path that leads right down to the beach. It was beautiful! There was never a dearth of chairs or overcrowding while we were there. Try picnicking on the beach for dinner to catch an awesome sunset.

“Great Honeymoon, not cheap”

Fairmont Kea Lani Maui

4 of 5 stars
Seattle, WA

We stayed here for five days for our honeymoon -- a wonderful trip.

We started in a suite about the ballroom, but after a particularly noisy night when we couldn't open the balcony door due to cigarette smoke, they upgraded us to a gorgeous room close to the ocean on an upper floor for our last two nights.

The resort is extravagant. We loved the free yoga, and just missed the free canoe rides multiple times --bummer (honeymooners = not punctual, apparently). We took advantage of the free car service to go to the shops at Wailea and buy juice, snacks, and rent fins (we brought our own snorkels and masks). Definitely a good choice. We snorkelled straight off the beach three times, and went further south (again, via car service) once.

We took the car service to the Four Seasons for an amazing dinner. (Oh, wow. Sunset, perfect beach views, we watched a wedding, and the food and wine were spectacular. We were sated.) Walked back along the lit ocean path afterwards, and then went for a swim in the deserted but lit pool -- amazing evening.

Meals and pool side drinks were impressively expensive (maybe not for Maui/resorts, but compared to Seattle they were something else). We'd budgeted ahead of time and just tried to ignore it. Pineapple slices and cold towels brought around at the pool were lovely. Pool people watching was quite amusing. Views were amazing. Food was quite good, if expensive, and occasionally exceptional. Coffee and a bagel from the ground floor cafe was the way to go, but the full-service brunch was a yummy alternative. Loved the pretty bathrooms in the rooms. The grounds were amazing. We left feeling extremely pampered and that all of the money was worth it. Great memories and amazing photos. All and all, we completely recommend it.

“Wonderful Resort”

Fairmont Kea Lani Maui

My husband and I stayed at this resort for our honeymoon. It is, to this day, one of my favorite resorts. It is very large with adult-only pools, which was nice. The short stroll down to the beach was beautiful. There were many things to do at the resort alone...watersports, sunbathing by the pool/beach, numerous restaurants, shopping, entertainment, etc. I would definitely go back to this resort, maybe for an anniversary.

Our room was beautiful with a full balcony, open marble shower, garden tub, his and her sinks, separate living room/bedroom and a wet bar with sink and small refrigerator.

I was pleased with the service and friendliness of the staff. I have no complaints there.

  • This TripAdvisor Member:
    • Liked — There was plenty to do within the resort.
    • Disliked — Of course, I think all resorts could benefit from more restaurant choices.
