I was looking for a reasonable hotel that was family friendly as I was traveling with a 4 month old and a 19 month old. After doing my research and reading reviews I settled on this hotel.
I paid $160 a night for an ocean view room on the hotels website. At the time I booked my room I could not get the two queen beds, cribs or early check-in confirmed for me. Since we had the kids all these things were really important to me. After referencing the posted reviews I got Alfredo's (Assistant General Manager) email address (aarroyo@sjcourtyard.com) and sent him an email. He responded to me very quickly and confirmed that all my requests granted upon my arrival.
When we arrived the doorman was very helpful and took our luggage right away. After a short wait the front desk clerk was very polite and quickly got our keys to us. She gave us a quick rundown of all the dining and we were on or way to our room.
Once we got to our room I was blown away by the most magnificent view of the ocean. It was truly unbelievable to me and I have seen many of ocean views. There were water, fruits, cookies and chocolates waiting for us which were a nice touch since we had only eaten airplane food.
We knew coming into it that room service would be limited to breakfast so we weren't at all annoyed by the lack of that. As for the food in the hotel we didn't eat any of it as there were just too many local inexpensive Puerto Rican restaurants that we were told about beforehand. They do make a pretty good mojito in the bar and on Thursday nights they have free salsa lessons which were awesome.
The thing I liked most about the hotel was that they provided babysitting services. We had a very nice nanny come to our room and watch our kids all three nights we were there. We waited until late so they were both sleep when she came except one night. My son would not go to sleep and when she came he was still awake. He was fine when we left but I forgot my id and had to go back to the room. I snuck in so he wouldn't get upset and got a chance to observe her with him without her knowing I was there. She was very sweet, kind and patient with him. I was very happy with her car for my children.
The airport is near by but the noise didn't bother me. They stop landing at a certain hour and it never woke me up in the morning. They do have a casino but we prefer poker and their table was empty so we walked two blocks to the Ritz Carlton and gambled there. Overall it was a very good experience and I would definitely stay there again. Thanks again Alfredo!
