The 100-year old Castries market offers dozens of vendors selling island mementos, spices and food along with plenty of other local treasures. The market is vibrant on Saturdays, and especially so during the St. Lucia Jazz Festival and during Carnival. The Gablewoods shopping center to the north of Castries also offers an array of shops and services, as well as restaurants, and even a post office.
On the island’s north end at Gros Islet is the Rodney Bay Marina, which includes a modern shopping arcade with a wide selection of stores and services, including a Pro Shop at the nearby St. Lucia Golf & Country Club.
Stores hours across the island vary by establishment, but most are open from 8:30am until 4:30pm (closed for lunch from 12:30pm until 1:30pm), Monday through Friday. Most shops are open from 8:30am until 12:30pm on Saturdays, and major shopping centers are open in the afternoon as well. Except for the shops in the Marina, shopping is generally closed on Sundays.
