Travelers should know that Pokhara is a safe destination for travel but getting in to the area requires entering which are not as safe.  This does not mean that travel here should be avoided but it should put visitors on the alert.  This also explains why travel to the area can sometimes see inconvenient.  For example, buses running from the airport to Pokhara often run only at night.  This annoys some travelers but serves the purpose of enhancing travel safety by avoiding daytime violence in some areas of Nepal .  With that in mind …

By air:  Travelers will most likely fly in to the Pokhara Airport ( http://www.world-airport-codes.com/ne... ).  Flights generally reach Pokhara from Kathmandu .

By bus:   Travelers often use a bus to get to the area either from the airport or from locations all throughout Nepal .   There are three different bus stations in Pokhara, with buses coming from various locations but primarily from Kathmandu .   Some of these are regional buses and others are tourist-specific buses.

Unique travel:   There are mule caravans which enter the area, some of which are designed for tourists.   This is a unique way to reach the area although not highly recommended because of issues with safety and comfort.
