Sochi is a resort town and its main focus is and always has been on the spas, resorts, and healing waters of the area. Now a new focus has come onto the scene however, the Winter Olympics. Sochi became a finalist in the bidding for the games and now the city is united in making developments and improvements in all aspects to compete for the coveted honor. In preparation for such a grand event, this time is superb to visit Sochi. Even without confirmation, the feeling is in the air and there is a general upbeat feeling with just the potential. You will find many tributes to the games as a sort of ongoing event in Sochi at present.

One of the biggest event's of the year is the Sochi International Film Festival in June. The festival brings in filmmakers from around the globe to display films of many different languages.

In May the annual Beer Festival takes place at the city's exhibit center. Vendors from around the region promote their beers while thirsty visitors make the rounds to taste and make note of their favorites.

The Christmas Bazaar is also a great time to visit, in mid December. Local arts and crafts and other exhibits display gifts for sale, food specialties highlight the shopping experience.
