The easiest and most convenient way of getting into Kunming is by flying directly to the Kunming Wujiaba International Airport (KMG) , which is of 4 miles distance from the city center. This is the main airport in the Yunnan Province, and is one of the only five international airports in the entire country. There are many daily arriving flights from major cities around China and few international destinations (mainly in Eastern Asia). China Eastern Airlines fly directly from Hong Kong, Bangkok and Dhaka to Kunming. Thai Airways also has a direct flight from Bangkok. You may take any of these flights to Kunming. Alternatively, you can fly to Beijing or Shanghai from any major airport and reach Kunming from there taking a local flight. Bus and taxi transportations are easily available from the airport to the city center.

There are four train stations located throughout the city of Kunming, and it is possible to travel to them from many locations throughout the country. Traveling by bus to Kunming from within the Yunnan Province is very easy, as the bus station in Kunming is the main hub for the area.
