Being the major tourist destination that it is, Foz do Iguacu is full of shopping opportunities and has plenty of souvenir shops where you can buy just about anything with the name of the city on it.
The major shopping area is on Avenida Brasil, the main thoroughfare of the city, always busy with pedestrians. Everything from clothing boutiques to electronic shops can be found here. Along the street you will also find jewelry vendors and other types set up and ready for you to bargain. Only the local currency is accepted here, the Brazilian Real, for conversion rates go to www.xe.com.
Because the city borders Paraguay and Argentina, you can do some easy duty-free shopping in the boundary areas, notably on the Argentine border.
Tourists love the Iguacu Market where they can get bargain deal on local goods and stock up on exotic food items. The market is usually open every weekend but ask a local about hours as times vary throughout the year and you may be able to catch it open several times a week.
