There is one authentic restaurant that is must visit for truly South African Cuisine.  Ekhaya & All That Jazz is a truly home from home where one can sample food from the townships.  It is also a place where one can hear real South African stories from people who went into exile, musicians, artists, locals, etc.  Everyone has a story to tell.  Try the amazing buffet at  a  great price.  This place is situated in Yeoville on the busy Rockey Street opposite Times Square.  It is true that the area might have gone down but one really felt safe at Ekhaya and nothing happend to the vehicles.  One can sit on the thatched stoep, a great place to see people from all over Africa and the world pass by or just to enjoy in your group.  Places like Ekhaya really give hope to Yeoville and Johannesburg in general.  One doesn't have to drive to the townships to really experience the cuisine and the township people.
