Casa Cruz: nice decor and nice buzz. Price is the same as 647 but very small bar which can get messy around 1 am, when there's not enough room for the drunks.
The new place which is in all the magazines at the moment is Club at 647 Tacuari Capital Federal Reservations 0054 11 4331 3026 www.club647.com. The chef is from Nobu Miami. Entrees average, $5 amazing cocktails and music. 25 beds are available to eat from -- book early though. Food very nobu asian fusion with a good old traditional Argentinan food with a exciting twist. You'll likely see a famous Argentinan or two; the likes of maradona and all the fashion crowd go there. The nice thing is that the bar is big and there are two of them. The place looks very run down on the outside, but inside the decor is simply amazing! Stylish and sophisticated...unlike anything else in Buenos Aires....bottom line: go for the atmosphere, the cocktails, to see and to be seen....
Thymus: An Argentine Restaurant with French Flair
If you like creative fare prepared using French cooking techniques, this is the place for you. Chef Fernando Mayoral is charming, unpretentious, and way too modest about what comes out of his kitchen -- although he is very proud of his creations, such as using baked Kalamata olive pieces to accent a fine salad. Fernando's fondness for Asian cuisine is apparent from the appetizers -- tasty steamed dumplings containing asparagus served in a bamboo steamer. Enjoy a glass of Malbec with your meal.
