Once in Buenos Aires, there are two optoins for further transportation to Salta. The first is to fly, but there are no flights going to Salta from the Ministro Pistarini Airport. Travelers must first commute (a fifty minute drive) to the smaller Aeroparque Jorge Newbery Airport , located in the city of Buenos Aires. This airport is mainly used for domestic flights, and does offer direct flights to Salta through three airlines: Aerolineas Argentina , Southern Winds , and American Falcon . The other option is to take a bus to Salta from Buenos Aires. The Chevallier Bus Company runs daily routes that leave Buenos Aires at 10pm and arriving in Salta at 3pm. The seventeen-hour journey is made a bit easier by the fact that the buses are very comfortable.

Driving to Salta from within Argentina is another option, but before getting behind the wheel of a car, check out this Driving in Argentina page.
