EL PARQUE NACIONAL NAHUEL HUAPI

The Nahuel Huapi Park was created in 1934 on lands donated by Francisco Pascasio Moreno in 1903.   Mr. Moreno is more commonly known as "Perito Moreno" (a proficient or expert), a title awarded for his surveying of the Patagonia region.  Nahuel Huapi Park and Iguazu Falls were the first parks to be made Argentinian National Parks.

The Northern part of the park has different touring circuits.  One of them goes to the Limay and Trafuls river via the Valle Encantado (Enchanted Valley).  This is a transition zone between the steppe and the forest.  It's called enchanted because the whipping winds carve the stone into strange shapes.  e.g  the finger of God, the lying down indian, etc.

The other circuit is nearer to the Andes and it has thicker forests.  It is called Los Siete Lagos "The Seven Lakes".  There names are:  Nahuel Huapi, Correntoso, Espejo, Escondido, Villarino, Falkner and Machonico
