Outdoor activities in Prescott involve lots of golf. There are other activities to be found, of course, but golf is a popular pastime here.
Golfers flock to Prescott because it has fairly mild weather year-round (the average high in the summertime is 85), and there are plenty of golf courses to choose from. Many of these courses are public, and therefore affordable.
The Prescott golf courses themselves are varied, some offering beautiful sweeping vistas around the courses, and others offering challenging terrain including granite outcroppings, rolling hills and many tree-lined fairways.
If your outdoor tastes run more toward hiking, backpacking, mountain biking or horseback riding, the Prescott National Forest offers you more than 450 miles of trails on which to enjoy your hobby. Granite Mountain Wilderness is particularly popular with visitors thanks to its close location to Prescott (it’s about a 20-minute drive away) and it offers excellent trails for hiking or horseback riding.
If spectator sports are more to your liking, Prescott can boast of a professional hockey team, the Arizona Sundogs.
