The Camel Farm is a great place to visit, very interesting and only a few miles from the Marine Corps Air Station.  The owner has at least 100+ camels and other animals that are exotic and/or extinct.  You can get a cup full of food to feel the animals and do a self-guided tour, entrance fee is minimal -- $3.00 for adults -- and is open during the day.  Call before you go because the farm is usually closed during the really hot weather like June, July and August.  Most of the hotels have all of the information.
