Yuma is known as the sunniest place on Earth, and year-round records show that the city receives 93 percent of the possible 4,400 hours of sunshine yearly, which amounts to 4,133 hours of sunshine in an average year. It is also one of the hottest cities in the United States, with average summer temperatures regularly topping 100 degrees Fahrenheit. The good news is that it is a dry heat, with humidity levels rarely surpassing 30 percent. And Yuma only receives about three inches of rain per year. Winter weather is ideal, with temperatures ranging from the low- to high-70s. It is so nice, in fact, that some 85,000 snowbirds make Yuma their winter home.
