Bangor has a lot of shopping to offer. From traditional malls to unique boutiques, shoppers should be delighted especially when talking on the charming historic downtown.

The downtown of Bangor has many original shops and a wide variety of options. The Brier Patch is a great little bookshop that has a lot of options for young readers as well. For home decor, clothing and jewelry check out the Grasshopper Shop. Once you get hungry you can check out the Bangor Wine and Cheese Company, part of the Winterport Winery, for local specialties.  Equally charming is the "old town" area. Here visitors love the Maine Indian Basket Makers Alliance. Many handcrafted goods and baskets of course are available made by Native Americans of the region. The Alliance also showcases a gallery and hosts special events and exhibits. Also in this are is Old Town Canoes, which even if you're not in the market for a canoe, is worth checking out.

If you need to get a lot done fast, you can go to the Bangor Mall which has more than seventy shops under one roof.

Many people also travel to the Sprague's Nursery for beautiful flowers, Christmas trees in season, or just for the gift shop.
