Most people are aware of the ground and helicopter tours to places outside of Las Vegas.  A popular destination is the Grand Canyon.  A lesser known option is a ground tour by van or SUV to Bryce Canyon and Zion National Parks.  They are located in Southern Utah.  Why go?

-The views of the red rock formations are astounding, better than any pictures can show.

- The two parks are closer than driving to the Grand Canyon South Rim and less crowded.

-Bryce Canyon has its shaped pillars called "hoodoos".  Zion has a magnificent drive which shows the canyon in all its splendor.

-Hiking is popular at both parks and Zion is a mecca for rock climbing.

- Even in the heat of summer, because of the high elevations, the temperature is pleasant at 9,000 feet

-You can drive there and stay overnight or book a tour from Las Vegas and return same day, about 500 miles roundtrip

For more information, see the websites for both parks:  http://www.nps.gov/brca/ and http://www.nps.gov/zion/.  Guided tours can be found on the Internet.  If taking a guided tour, check the reputation of the tour company.  After booking, check in advance to be sure the trip has enough people for the day you selected.  Be sure you know the meeting place because the tour companies will pick you up from designated spots at the Strip hotels and expect you to be prompt.
