Because it is further north and at a higher elevation the weather in Reno is cooler than in the rest of Nevada, which is mainly low desert.  Reno gets warm in the summer, averaging in the 80's and 90's, but not nearly as warm as in the southern part of the state which routinely sees summer temperatures over 100 degrees.  During the winter months the lows in Reno average in the 30's, with highs in the 60's.  The majority of the area's precipitation comes from November to March in the form of snow and rain, but it generally does not amount to much.  The highest average amount of precipitation for any month in Reno is just over one inch.  The area is comfortable all year long. People come to Reno all year long for its casinos, hotels, and beautiful scenery.
