One of the most interesting things about West Chester, Pennsylvania, is the famous people connected with it. The co-founder of Jackass, Bam Margera, was from West Chester. Consequently, the city has featured quite a few times in Jackass, both in the TV series and the movies, as well as other related CKY videos. Other entertainment stars who were born or lived in West Chester include the late Matthew McGrory, who is famous for having the world’s largest feet and acting in movies ( Big Fish, The Devil’s Rejects) and TV shows ( Malcolm in the Middle, Charmed). Humorist Dave Barry also started his career in West Chester by writing for The Daily Local News.

Though the borough is fairly small (with a population of under 20,000), West Chester is nonetheless home to several large corporate headquarters, including the scientific supplies distributor VWR International and home shopping network QVC.

Due to the large size of the student population at West Chester University and the relatively small size of the permanent resident population, West Chester is also something of a college town. Under- and postgraduates at this public University of Pennsylvania number roughly 12,000, so many area retailers and vendors cater specifically to the student population.
