Visit to Sun Studio, Memphis

Its legendary status makes this an essential destination. This is where Elvis Presley recorded his first song, and was the starting point for Rock-n-Roll legends like Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis, Carl Perkins, and others. The merchandise is good quality - especially the original Sun Label records.  The tour guides are knowledgeable and non-patronising. There is information for the expert music fan as well as the casual visitor.  The layout and contents of the upstairs museum are excellent.  There is a free shuttle bus connection to Graceland. There can be large crowds of up to 50 on each tour,  which can diminish atmosphere of the small studio area. The waiting area and gift shop is also a soda fountain and coffee bar.
