Visitors to Memphis often arrive by plane at the Memphis International airport ( www.memphisairport.org).  This airport is served by almost all major domestic airlines as well as a number of international airlines.  Rental car service is available at the airport and is generally the preferred method for travelers to get to their destination.  Alamo, Avis, Budget, Dollar, Hertz, Enterprise and National all have offices at the airport.  For travelers arriving at the airport and seeking other means of getting to their hotels, taxis, limousines, and shuttles are all options.  Additionally, MATA, the public transportation system for Memphis, travels to and from the airport.  See www.matatransit.com for more information about bus routes and schedules.

For those visitors who don’t wish to fly to Memphis, Memphis is easily accessible by train, bus and car.  AMTRAK trains stop in Memphis at the train station which is located at 545 South Main Street.  Greyhound busses stop at the bus terminal located at 203 Union Avenue.

Drivers trying to reach Memphis by car will likely be traveling on either I-40 (for those coming from east or west of Memphis) or I-55 (for those coming in from north or south of Memphis).  Two other major road routes are possible, those being US 78 and US 72.
