• Enchanted Rock State Park: Enchanted Rock is a 400-foot tall pink batholith - a type of granite rock formation. Rock climbers will enjoy the challenge of scaling the Rock’s steep overhangs, and hikers and walkers can wind their way up on gentle footpaths. The domed top is a popular picnicking spot, and the surrounding area is a state park, with abundant opportunities to camp and stargaze.
  • National Museum of the Pacific War: Also called the Nimitz Museum, its subject is one that only the most dedicated war buffs know much about: the Pacific Theater of World War II. Admirial Chester Nimitz led the U.S. Navy to victory over Japan in several decisive sea battles; the museum honors his legacy and that of the war’s veterans. The huge facility includes various war memorials and also the Japanese Garden of Peace.
  • Pioneer Museum: Devoted to recreating the lifestyle of Fredericksburg’s earliest settlers, the Pioneer Museum displays those artifacts, crafts and tools that played a key role in the town’s long history. The museum is operated by the Gillespie County Historical Society, which organizes group tours through the museum.
  • Fredericksburg Brewery & Winery: Texas is famous for its beer and wine, and Fredericksburg is no disappointment. The town brewery is conveniently situated in the downtown area and has an impressive display of the brewing processes and machinery used right there in the building. Fredericksburg Winery, located a few miles out of the town center, is famed for its down-to-earth staff and quality production; in fact, U.S.A. Today called it one of Texas’ three best wineries.
