Madison has a number of great restaurants to enjoy on a small budget.
The Caspian Cafe, University Avenue across from the Fluno Center, is a Mediterrean delight. Mohila and her husband make some of the best middle eastern food -- try the daily specials which are made fresh. They have plenty of veggie options as well.
Pasquals on Monroe street is a neighborhood favorite, and their lunch specials which include a drink as well are a steal at $6.00 including tax. They feature a southwestern nouvelle cuisine kind of menu. Nachos with black beans, or enchiladas with mole sauce, and burritos with home made chorizo are among my favorites. $8 or less per entree.
Thai Orchid on Raymond Road is a great takeout and now sit down Thai restaurant with lots of home made ice creams for dessert. The statf is super friendly, and the pad thai is outstanding if you ask for it a little spicy. $10 or less per entree.
New Seoul Resteraunt on Old University is great for authentic Korean food served with plenty of side dishes. You will see old favorites here such as bimimbap, bulgogi, etc. All served the free side dishes. $10 or less per entree.
Greenbush Bar on Regent Street. A great italian resteraunt while not technically a "cheap" eat, it is affordable. Get a veggie antipasto plate or regular for $10 (split it for 2), and some wine and you've got a cheap meal. The peasant bread they make here is outstanding as is the thin crust pizza (also a steal).
El Pastor on Park Street -- real authentic mexican. It is way down on park street but the tacos are to die for.
