One of the most drop dead gorgeous destinations just got even sexier!  If you are traveling to Honolulu, Waikiki, or Oahu in general, you are in luck.   Just a stone’s throw away is BEAUTIFUL Lanikai, more specifically Lanikai Beach.   What seems to be so far untouched by tourism, the powder white sand was amazing.   The views towards the horizon were more beautiful than one could describe.   Two small volcanic mountains appeared about 1000 yards out, creating a postcard perfect view.   The houses surrounding the area all spoke of a very wealthy part of town, so no need to feel in danger on a deserted beach.   You could easily have the beach to yourself  It's a beautiful spot to have your Oahu vacation portrait taken. Photography companies in Kailua include AinaKai Photography and Taylor Photography. AinaKai also offers beach and botanical garden photo tours.

Getting to Lanikai is not hard, you just need a local map to point out where it is.   The location of Lanikai is a small town (Kailua) on the eastern side of Oahu.   A rental car for $30 US dollars will get you there within 40 minutes.

Nearby Kailua Beach is also gorgeous. You can rent kayaks, windsurfs and kite boards at or near the beach. Some places that rent these water toys in Kailua are Hawaiian Water Sports, Kailua Sailboards, and Twogood's. The ocean here is usually very calm and good for swimming.

Kailua town is also very charming. Stop by the Kailua Visitor Center at 600 Kailua Rd. Suite 103 (in the Times Supermarket and Lanikai Juice shopping area) and get directions to nearby hikes (Lanikai Bunkers, Maunawili Falls trail, etc.) and recommendations on places to eat. If you're interested in birds, stop by Kawainui Marsh and Hamakua Marsh -- you can get directions from the visitor center. Kailua and Lanikai is well worth the trip!   On the way home, don’t forget to stop at Pali Lookout!   Another must see!
