THE ARIZONA MEMORIAL  The tour is solemn and serious, since it is literally a trip to a graveyard.  If you are looking for an exciting adventure, this tour is not for you.  The tour is operated by the US Parks service and the US Navy.  It is free.

The tour starts with a mandatory 25 minute movie discussing the politics and reality of the Pearl Harbor attack of 1941.  After you finish the movie, you board a boat for a trip to the memorial.  It is a 5 minute ride.   The memorial itself is constructed much like a mausoleum with a chamber listing all 1200 servicemen who died aboard the USS Arizona on the wall.  The memorial sits cross ways directly over the center of the ship.  You can see very little of the ship - just a rusty hulk covered with marine life under the memorial hall.  The ride back takes another 5 minutes   The Arizona Memorial tour is often crowded and can involve a two to three hour wait in the hot sun.  Get there as early as possible.  It opens at 0730 and lines start forming about 0630. Click here to check out TripAdvisor User Reviews
